Go online exactly 24 hours ahead of your flight. You can select your seats then and get the best ones (I'd confirm this is the same for flights to Maui, as I'm not 100% sure of that.)
I always book my seat ahead of time, and then I don't bother printing my boarding pass. You can just go to the kiosk at the airport and print it out there, as well as the tag for your baggage.
That's a couple of the things I like about Westjet. No standing in useless lines until it's necessary.

WestJet allows you to print your boarding passes 24 hours in advance. You can also pick your seats then. Use the link below and click on the "check in" icon. Then follow the instructions and you're done
http://www.westjet.com/guest/en/home...id=WVI_Top_Nav#
Also use the Seat Guru link. It will show you where the good and bad seats are. Also where your seats on the plane. I use it all the time.

Westjet has "best seats"? As far as my experience goes, the only seats that are any better than the others are the exit seats for legroom. Those are snapped up pretty fast as well. Other than that, westjet seat comfort is minimal.

Don't forget to leave your loaded handgun at home. Apparently they are sticklers about that kind of thing.

Don't know about the whole seat selection thing. As Westjet is currently wet-leasing a 757 from North American Airlines to fly the routes from YYC and YEG.
North American Airlines does not show up on the seatguru website. I know for sure that they are 3x3 for seating and that with 757's there is usually a hella sweet emergency exit row with lots of leg room around the middle of the plane. Try and get that if you can.
It should be around where the 2nd door is from the front in this picture of the plane:

Regardless if you get the ticket online or get it at the gate, you will definitely need your ID to check in. Keep it handy, because they might ask for it at more than one point in the check in procedure. Have a good flight and have fun!

Fortunately for WJ that intake cowl was probably replaced in an hour or 2, and put right back into service!

Ouch! Looks like the bridge was left in the wrong position and the marshallers weren't watching too close as they were bringing it in.

seatguru.com is sweet, thanks Dion. I fly both domestic and international quite a bit on different airlines, it always sucks trying to guess which seats will be decent.

I like emailing the ticket to myself so it's on my iPhone then that becomes my e-ticket and they scan it off my screen. I've done it a couple of times. Not sure how to get around getting the wife's to my iPhone as I believe I can only email one ticket to an email address. I'm sure someone here will tell me.
