Default Citifinancial retail? Trying to screw me over? Anyone have experience?

So we purchased a piece of furniture about a year ago. We financed it through the store. They use citifinancial. We got it with no interest for a year knowing full well that we would pay it off before the year was up. So We paid off this account a few months ago, and the plan is supposed to expire later this month.

I checked with the woman on the phone when I paid it off, if there was anything else I needed to do to completely close this off. She said no, once it was paid in full I shouldn't owe anything and that there is nothing else to do.

For some reason I have this sinking feeling that it isn't this easy. I got a phone call this morning while I was at work from citifinancial. I obviously didn't get the message and have been unable to get a hold of anyone this evening.

Anyone have any experience with this situation? Is there something else I need to do so I don't get dinged on the interest?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Make sure you have paid it all off by talking to city financial, get them to confirm that you don't have to pay anything further. We bought some furniture like this a few years back and they ended up having a charge we did not know about. Now we caught it in time, so we can't be sure, but I suspect that it would have meant it wasn't paid off in time, where they might have charged the full interest amount.

Thanks! Yeah I confirmed on the phone a couple months ago there was no balance. I got a letter showing no balance. I just called the phone line and it says my current balance is 0.

Then it says, this balance is not a pay off. What the hell does that even mean? I suspect I need to notify them in some way that I want the account closed (which I thought I already did).

My gut- they are trying to sell you something else.

I financed part of my fiancee's ring through Well Fargo; same reason- 6 months do not pay. Paid it off in full; and also made a huge deal about getting something from them saying it was paid in full. (Had a bad feeling.)

They had tried to sell me other things like re-financing my mortgage- at 12% interest.

After they would call me every month offerring to sell me some other finance product. I finally told them that if they didn't stop calling me I would complain to Telus about the harrassing phone calls and get their phones cut off.

if it's paid in full, you're fine. That's why you pay the admin fee at the time of purchase

I believe that when these do not pay offers from City Financial happen they open a credit account like a credit card. Check your credit and see if it it still open.
