Default Townhomes/Villas that allow dogs?

Some of you may remember the thread from a couple years ago when I mourned the passing of my dog, Biscotti.

I think I am ready for a new dog.

My folks are looking to downsize sometime to a townhome or villa, and their argument is that a dog (even a small one) would greatly limit their options for where to live in the future.

I wonder how common it is for townhomes/villas/condos to allow dogs? Thoughts?

It's true, having a pet, particularly a dog, really does reduce your options of finding the right place for yourself to live. I find that more of the lower income housing facilities allow pets, not sure if that's something you'd be interested in. The townhouses across from southland and 24th SW allow pets. Same with the townhouses in Woodbine on Woodpark Blvd and Woodview Dr SW (Sierra Gardens). The blue townhouses across from Lord Beaverbrook High School allow dogs as well.

Many condos allow for dogs with board approval which tends to be 20-25 lb max.

I am also able to see when looking at property's if they allow for dogs or not. Have your parents put a list of buildings they might already be interested in and I could inform you which ones can stay on the list by allowing dogs.

When we were trying to find tennants for our condo our board has 50 lbs max but we were able to get them to approve a god much bigger then that with no problems. They just like to be aware of whats going on. The people ended up not moving in but now I know in future all you have to do is ask!

OK, thanks for the input everyone. My folks have not narrowed it down to any specific place yet, so I may just have to go without a four-legged fiend for a while.

Which is such crap.

Everyone knows that little dogs are always the most annoying and loudest / yappiest.

Edit: Should be all dogs or no dogs.

That's really surprising, most condo boards don't allow big gods.
