Default Attn photography fans- 2007 World Press Photo Awards

I eagerly await the winners gallery every year. Some of the most poignant and striking photos I've seen are usually in these collections.

This year, I was particularly taken by the man washing his face in Nigeria after the explosion, and the lone Japanese businessman at night. Simply stunning. Note that there are usually are more photos of the subject once you click on the winning one. [EDIT, the Japanese lonely man I'm talking about is one photo in the 1st Prize winner under Daily Life - link]

After looking at these photos.... I think it's time I get some wider angle glass for better composition. My 20-35mm on a 1.6 crop Canon DSLR just isn't wide enough sometimes....

because i point out the bride with the frown?

maybe I thought it was odd she would be frowning on her wedding when she is lucky he is even alive!

if i wanted to be a complete and utter ass, I would have said it looks like she was marrying an alien.

" the bride looks happy lol"

Yeah that really indicates a lot of constructive thought on your part indicating something other than mocking the appearences of the returning soldier. If I am wrong and you are merely trying to make a commentary regarding the situation that the bride is placed in and the sadness associated with one of the most important days of her life because her husband is permanently disfigured I really don't see the need to make a low joke about it, which in turn does make a joke about the appearences of the soldier in question.

Boy, if you were to go by most of those photos, you'd think it was one hell of a crappy world we live in.

Perhaps the press needs to focus on the positive aspects of life a little more?

That's effed up.

The guy who took the photo and didn't do anything killed himself after winning the Pulitzer.

Didn't realize this thread was 4 years old. Guess I should learn to read the titles a tad bit closer.

Just a heads up, there's definitely some graphic photos, including a man commiting suicide and a dead child.
