I'm having a bit of a BBQ for some family this weekend and would like to hear of any recipe's or sucessful techniques for BBQ-ing.

I'll be cooking steak and burgers...of course I will only be using Alberta beef.

Any closet Martha Stewart followers, here is your time to shine.

I think there was another BBQ thread not too long ago, but whatever, here is my suggestion;

Cut up some onions, mushrooms, red peppers, green peppers, asparagus and whatever other veggies you like, marinade them in cheap Italian salad dressing for 5 or 6 hours in the fridge.

Get a smoker box and some hickory or mesquite woodchips, soak woodchips for a long time, place smoker box on coals about 1/2 hour before you want to cook. Get a Wok Topper for the BBQ and cook your veggies in said Wok Topper, right above the smoker box. Enjoy.

Buy the ground beef the day you are going to cook it, get the freshest you can find. Start mixing it up and throw in some seasoning you like, I just use some plain ol' italian seasoning, some salt, some pepper, a bit of garlic powder and some hot pepper flakes. Mix those together nicely and make big plump burger paddys. Throw those on the grill and cook em up. Depending on how you like it toss some regular Bullseye BBQ sauce over the Burgers as they are finishing cooking, tastes real nice. Get some cheese and toss that on and let it melt, of course.. grill and toast up your buns for a couple seconds before eating.

Pretty simple to do, but I get the best damn juicey burgers this way.. fresh meat is the key.

I find the bun is the most underrated part of the BBQ experience. It is hilarious how much work peolpe go to in cooking their burger only to put it inside a standard cheap 'safeway' bun. Go to the bakery in the morning and get some REAL buns, makes SUCH a frikkin difference...

Cheese is another one too... get something different/fresh and note the difference...
