Thieves can easily get into your garage door.

LAser Trip mines across the doors and windows.

Or if thats too expensive you tie the shotgun to the door technique.

Meh.....they can have my lawn mower and tools, my insurance will cover it.

true, but they often park those same vehicles outside at parking lots etc also. they don't leave whatever valuables they might have in thier garages out on the street though...even if they are just lawnmowers, tools and bikes

Attached garages are a nice private access to your house, they park in the garage and take their time loading your stuff into their vehicle.

When I lived in the lower mainland BC, there was a rash of thefts like that.

They would scope out minivans in mall parking lots, make sure the Garage door opener was clipped to the visor, steal the van, find the address from registration in the glove box, go to the house, pull into the garage and close the door then stuff the van full of house hold valuables and leave.

Lesson here is don't keep valuables in your car or garage. Make sure you have a good deadbolt and strong door on the house entrance from the garage. Alarm system, too!
