25 years ago today, Terry Fox dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean and started what was to be a run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
For more than four months, he ran the equivalent of a marathon every day. He stopped his run outside of Thunder Bay, when it turned out his cancer had spread.
The image of Terry Fox on the highway is one that has haunted me for 25 years, and it's amazing to see that we are still honouring his mission in 2005.
