If granny there is going to blow her self up on an airplane, I think America has officially lost the war on terror.

Exactly.

This is what you get when your population is so ridiculously adverse to racial profiling. Despite the fact that it WORKS.

Are they though? I thought the majority were in favor of it. And I can tell you racial profiling is alive and running. Anytime I travel I "randomly" get checked.

I'm pretty sure if it were publicly documented that TSA carried out racial profiling at airports they would be thrown under the bus.

They might do it, but not like the Israelis do.

This is an example of lower level employees following the rulebook when it never occurs to them to use an ounce of discretion. I'm sure 95% of TSA officers wouldn't have done this, but all it takes is one.

Racial profiling is very obviously unconstitutional. So, while I'm sure the TSA does it, they will never admit to it.

Exactly. If George W. Bush's "They hate us for our freedom" is to be believed, then mission accomplished by the terrorists. The amount of dicking around required to board a domestic flight, nevermind an international one, is unbelievable.

Don't the Israelis engage in behavioural rather than racial profiling? Considering that white people can practice Islam it seems much more likely.

I was waiting in the Houston airport when this came on the news. A travelling flight attended, well into her career, was sitting beside me. Upon commenting on this, she said that the TSA is a joke, full of people without brains. It didn't surprise her.

From what I've read they engage a variety of different methods to improve the security and safety of their citizens. Racial profiling is included.

Behavioural is probably as well.
