Default Fireplace blower

I am looking to get a fireplace blower put into my gas fireplace in my living room but I can't seem to find out the best deal. You can buy generic ones for 100 bucks but they are apparently a real pain to install or you can can get a universal kit for 200 or go to some specialty fireplace stores and get the actual blower for your exact model for 400 plus. Searching on ebay looks to be over 200 for a universal kit as well.

When I was doing my walk through the heartland rep told me I should be able to pick one up for about 50 dollars. Anything I have found so far is no where near that. Does anyone have any ideas on best place/price to get one of these?

Heartland, eh? Is your fireplace a Kingsman? I bought mine about 6 years ago at Classic Fireplaces (they are down south near Deerfoot and Barlow). I believe that it cost about $200 or $250 installed.

Keep in mind that this was back about 6 years ago, and the prices may not be the same anymore.

I need one of these too. I've already got the plug below that is wired to a switch, but no fan. So it would be just a matter of buying the fan, mounting and plugging it in to the outlet.

Are the ones you are looking at wired to a manual switch or automatic via a themostat that detects when the fireplace is on?

I find without the fan the radiant heat created by the fireplace just hangs in about a 5 foot radius around the fireplace.

It all depends how you hook the fan off. Mine will be to an automatic thermostat but you can do it to just the switch as well. I am using my fireplace to heat my house instead of my furnace to see if there is any cost benefits

I'm glad you asked. We found a guy on kijiji/ebay who sells the specialized kit for each kind of fireplace for 135. Since we have about 4 people buying we got him down to 123. He has 1000 positive feedback and no negs so I figure this seems like a pretty safe bet.

To be honest I didn't but to be fair to local buisness' I just gave them a call. They do have a kingsman blower but it is 250 (would work for my friends fireplace) But they do not carry my brand of monessan.

Very friendly service over the phone though!

You should have told her to pull over while making sandwiches.
