Default Usher/ Flames fan Split 50/50

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...378/story.html

Not sure if this is a fata or where to put it, but a fan at the Wild game left the game after the 2nd period and gave his ticket to the usher saying he could have half if they won. Turns out they did...

Not trying to sound like a Debby Downer or anything, but can the usher even accept the money?

I saw someone complaining about the story on Facebook article about it. The guy said that when he worked at the Dome, staff were not allowed to accept tips and that any tips received were pooled together and given to charity.

Would this fall into the "tip" category?

Maybe some of our resident Dome staff members could shine some light on this.

I don't have a problem with it but I know I'd be annoyed if I was one of the other ushers. They all put up with so much crap throughout the season, why should one be given $13,500 because he lucked out in his section. Just playing devil's advocate.

I don't know, but he sure can if he doesn't work there anymore. That's hardly a job worth hanging on to.

They changed the rules a couple of years ago for Dome staff...they can go into the 50/50 draws.

The article states that ushers and other 'Dome staff can enter 50/50 draws... so he could have just claimed the money himself, but didn't

I should have read this article. It wasn't mentioned in calgaryflames.com article a few days ago.

What kind of fan leaves a game after the second? Come on. Usher should have kept it all on that fact alone.....

Normally I don't condone leaving early. Especially the people that leave with 5 minutes to go in a one-goal game so they can get a jump on traffic. But I can't say that I blame them for walking out on that one.

Good on the usher for being honest! I'm sure that, as a student, it'll be very helpful for tuition.

That sure beats anything I got when I was an usher... and I got a fair bit. I was given 50/50 tickets too, but back then if I won it would have been something like $1000 the pots were so small back then
