Urban Exploration
http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums
This site is amazing. Not sure who has heard of this term "Urban Exploring." Basically, you go and tajke pics inside and outside of abandoned and derelict buildings. Reading around this site, there's all sorts of "rules" and a code of ethics and whatnot. It's all about preservation.
I like this thread about the Leyland Daf Van factory that shut down. Looks like it literally closed over night!

There's some crazy stuff on here.

I like this sort of stuff, and there's quite a few good sites out there with information and pictures.
Here's one of my favourites:
http://www.abandoned-places.com/
The site layout is a bit strange and artsy, but there's tons of good photo sets there, mostly of old factories, hospitals, and even some whole towns in eastern Europe.

What a great site. Just did a quick search for Detroit and looked at a couple of threads, some stunning photos. I lived in Detroit fairly briefly, although I was in Michigan for a few years, and just walking through the city showed the strange mix of absolutely extravagant buildings and complete destruction. Getting inside some of those places would be incredible. The more I get into photography the more I want to go back.

infiltration.org chronicles the trips of a Canadian pioneer. Enjoyable reading and he makes it to some neat places in Toronto. He passed away some time ago, so the site is almost an abandoned place in itself.

This stuff is fascinating to me. The closest I get to it is venturing onto the occasional abandoned barn or farm house when I'm out with my dogs.
There was a post on here a ways back that had a Calgary site, I think it was called 'urban archaeology' or something like that. There were pictures from the abandoned Molson factory and the underground train tunnel by city hall.

it's so easy to be fascinated by this kind of stuff. I've never really gotten into it, but it is very cool looking at the stuff in this thread.
