Yep, I agree. I have waited for 2 weeks for a response. If "agents" are out of the office let everyone know...........

Jack Torrents is currently weighing his options and doing some rather deep thinking about where these player rankings are going to go.
I'm also a student of Bob Goodenow's. Take from that what you wish. Also take from that the idea that I'm not exactly desperate at this time of year to get all my players signed.
That being said, I'll get to the e-mails that I do have soon enough.

what he said. It takes all of 30 seconds (max) to respond to an offer with "hey...got your email...will look at it later." I'm fine with the one week it took to answer mine. That's cool. But when people are waiting over two weeks just to get any kind of confirmation that you even GOT the offer, it's a bit ridiculous.

then you should be proud you're such a popular man. Even if you need to reply to all 30+, it's still only 15 minutes

Considering each agency represents like 350+ players perhaps we should look at adding some more agents. I mean, thats a lot of players.

Not to get into the middle of this - but are there major issues that require immediate attention right now? We've got all off-season to re-sign our RFAs and you can't do anything with UFAs right now so what's the panic?

I was not in a panic. But I sent my first emails March 22nd. I expected some sort of reply. Cheese said it was a thing non playoff teams should be doing, starting negotiations for the RFA. So I tried.
And like a GM, if life work family and other various stuff keeps a participant in the league too busy to play, then perhaps you are just that. Too busy to play.
I don't see a MAJOR differnce in agents busy-ness and a GM being busy. Two weeks was ample time to respond in some way to an email.

^^^True Becky. I don't entirely disagree...I think in general it works well when the agents post to let us all know when they are slammed. At least then we know to expect delays. Generally the agents are good at posting when they are "out of the office" so perhaps it just got missed this time.
Hmmmmm...maybe I should create a phantom handle for myself, become an agent and give myself sweet contracts. Oops. Did I say that out loud?

Yep, I thought I might have missed the post, or missed a rule or something. That was why I was asking.
I know when the agents have posted before that they were gone or sick or busy with something, I didn't bother them until they were back in the swing of things.
And I didn't know if my email had gone astray and been missed.
Now I know whats what, and negotiating can begin. I have what I think are a lot of players to sign.

the difference is that we are doing this agent thing for fun. to help out. to make YOUR simulation that much more realistic.
believe me, i dont sit and think all day about how to negotiate contracts the same way you sit and think of how to build your team. there's a difference there.
there are also 4 agents representing ~400 players each compared to 30 gms looking after, what, 60 each?
we also have to check player data, enter it, sometimes from scratch, in addition to thinking of 'deals' for our players.
i agree that emails arent difficult to send, but when you have a ton to do, it gets overwhelming in a way, and i'm sure many of the gm's dont think of that.
personally, i have had an incredibly busy 2005, and had home and work issues and illness to deal with as well.
i dont mean to come across as negative or defensive, but as i said, your priorities are far different than ours. i think patience from the gm's and more agents to deal would be a welcome addition.
this has been a kind of ramble, rant, but i just hope some of you can at least see where i'm coming from.
