Default Superbowl thread Feb. 6 2011

Figured this is a better idea than mixing in todays game with any of the other threads.

So who you got?

Here are about 40 of the "experts" from ESPN and their picks.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playof...perbowlpicks11

And the guys from NFL.com makes their choices...

http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/story/0...e=HP_headlines

CBS guys jump in as well.....

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1...lv-predictions

Yahoo sports gang as well....

As for me...this is why we are sports fans. When you follow a team for a large part of your life...feel the ups and downs of winning and losing...read and watch anything you can about your team.....and you get to this spot, well it doesnt get any better.

I am uncomfortable most times thinking my team WILL win, because when they dont it is harder to take than believing they CAN win. Since the Packers beat the Bears 2 weeks ago right until this minute, I have had the feeling that they WILL win and it bothers me.

At any rate I think this team is destined for the win simply because of the enormity of adversity it has had to overcome in reagrds to injuries this season. You mix in a defense that hasnt allowed its team to be behind in game by more than 7 points ALL year, add in the single hottest offensive player the last month who is ready to shake a really large shadow thats been following him for 3 years, and the fact these guys are playing what amounts to their 6th straight elimination game on the road and I have to believe they are ready to finish the deal.

Packers 31 Steelers 23.

I'm neutral for this one.

The gamblor in me can't pass up the Steelers +3.

Why? Don't be uncomfortable, enjoy the ride.

Like I think Flames, after this good run of form, can and will win the Stanley Cup and I'm not uncomfortable about it at all!

I have to go with Yogi Berra's prediction:

Yogi Berra’s #superbowl pick: “Green Bay, 23-20. The best team should win & it could also be Pittsburgh.”

I just want to see a really entertaining game today. The Steelers only lose in the Superbowl when they go up against the legendary franchises.....So Packers 28 Steelers 27.

My money is on the Steelers, but that back-up centre on the Steelers looked like garbage against the Jets. I think the Steelers are going to win on a last second field goal, 23-21

More importantly, what's everyone eating today?

This year we're doing something more traditional (read: less queer) with wings, chips/salsa, nachos, cheese dip--all homemade of course. To drink: Pepsi throwback and Knob Creek Bourbon (not together, unless you are into that)

Maybe next year I'll go back to my regular menu, one which I recall being mocked for on here, haha.

Green Bay 30, Pitt 28

It's all good. I just would prefer to not be so confident....it makes the win sweeter and a loss tougher, that's all.

Wings in 2 flavours, mega-hot and Salt&pepper.

Spinach/ham/mushroom/parmesan quiche.

Sweet and sour meatballs

Home made cheddar cheese and salsa dip.

Veggie tray.

And lots of Genessee Cream Ale. (link added for those who are curious...great tasting beer and i just picked up a 30 pack for $12.67 + tax...cant beat that deal)

Picking Steelers, but pulling for the Pack. Like both teams though, I'm good either way. So pumped for this game.

Is there a legal stream of the Superbowl? I'm stuck at work, but will have time to sneak peaks.

I cannot stand either team. I am hoping the Steelers win today though because my brother is a huge Packers fan and I don't think I could handle him living here another couple of months, before college is finished for the year, as he would remind everyday that the Packers are the champs.

Steelers 24 Packers 21

Lets go Packers. I really want to see Aaron Rodgers win a championship. Just the way he entered the league, what he went through with Bret Favre, and how he is playing. Great way to stick it Favre as well.

Packers play the game the right way, a fun exciting team on both ends, attacking style on both sides. Unlike the Steelers who are a play not to lose, run the ball 50 times and pass 5 times boring style.

Will be good for the NFL, with a team playing the right way winning, on top of that will look good on the league with Aaron Rogders as a champion and not that sick freak Ben.

If the Steelers O-Line was healthy I think they would win easily but with so many injuries I think it is a real pick 'em and on paper as close a Super Bowl as I can remember. Which likely means that it will be a blowout for one team.

I say Steelers 31-27 because Big Ben seems to find a way to win these games and the Steelers defense is so good at making big plays.

What the F is this crap. This is what you get when you let Fox host the super bowl.

Bill O'Ftard giving an interview with Obama during the Superbowl pre game show. What a joke.

Going for the Packers. Would be nice to see Aaron Rodgers get his 1st ring. I respect what Green Bay has done this year because they are 2nd in the NFL this year in man games lost to injuries by their starters with 83 (Indy was first with 89). GB has had "the next man up" mentality and they deserve everything they have achieved so far. I think both teams are good and it will be a close game.

27-24 Packers in OT!

You're kidding right? As a hockey fan you couldn't possibly be serious.

The Lombardi trophy isn't in the top 20 most prized trophies. The Superbowl might be near the top of the most coveted championships (at least in the US) but the trophy is nearly meaningless.

Stanley cup, Grey Cup, world cup of soccer trophy, numerous golf, tennis trophies, numerous soccer trophies, the Heisman etc are all light years ahead in terms of trophy importance.

Nobody grows up dreaming of hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy, they dream of winning the Superbowl. Otherwise it would be called the Vince Lombardi trophy playoffs instead of the Superbowl.
