Late May was always a great time to end the NHL season.
This year the Finals start after May 25 and could go until June 12. Yikes.

That brought back some great memories.... sigh
That team should have won at least one more Cup but wasn't meant to be I guess. After Fletcher raped us in the Gilmour deal things fell apart pretty quickly.

June 3, 2004 would've been a great time to end the season. It was a goal!

Didn't realize Killer had shut down Gretzky in the Smythe Division finals.
Plus a photo of a couple of beauts from 1986. Not sure why it was included in a 1989 story, but it's a glorious pic nonetheless.

Also: Nick Fotiu is wearing a Gerry Cosby & Co. t-shirt (at the time the NYR team equipment supplier). I guess back in those days, players supplied their own laundry.

I could be remembering it incorrect and I had the wingers with the wrong center on 3rd and 4th
Maclellan Otto M. Hunter
Hrdina Fleury Mcdonald

Reason: had Murzyn twice, meant to have Macoun on 3rd pair

Yup, pretty sure this is correct. Patterson was a premier shutdown guy and was on a top 6 line because of it.

Because 86 and 89 are forever linked by the same 2 teams in the SC final. Sweet Revenge!
