Heatley Waived?
http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-dany-heatley-waived-ducks-nhl-20141229-story.html
Quote:
That opening penalty shot that Dany Heatley missed in Arizona on Saturday night appears to be his final play as a Duck.
Anaheim placed the declining veteran forward on waivers Monday morning, according to a hockey source familiar with the situation but unauthorized to discuss the transaction publicly, as the 33-year-old has failed to convince the team that his scoring skills can overcome the effects of age.

It would be hilarious if they claimed him and he just retired instead.

Actually former Oiler goaltender Devan Dubnyk now playing in Nashville have more wins (8) than the Edmonton Oilers (7) this season. This is the same goaltender they ruined while playing for the Oilers.
Quite comical that Dany Heatley flat out saying he does not want to play for the Greasers. That would be the second time then.

Also, Dubnyk is on Phoenix, but the point still stands. And on a worse team than Nashville.

What I heard from Wild and Ducks fans is that he still has great hands and its not his work ethic, he just cant keep up and his speed is really bad no matter how hard he tries. No complaints though as he was a good locker room presence and a mentor to the kids but he was always behind the play was the main concern.

So, I'm not overly familiar with how Waivers are processed, and players awarded, I am hoping it's kinda like when a guy is traded, the new GM or AGM/Rep, or Coach always gives the guy a call to welcome him, and what not, and I really, really hope Edmonton Claims Heatley, and MacT is the one to let him know, cause in my head, the conversation is hilarious:
MacT: "Hey Dany, it's Craig, it's great to have you aboard, we're all really excited, you've been a guy we've really wanted for a while now, hope you can get here soon and meet the team!"
Heatley: "Conroy?? is that you? You guys claimed me? Awesome, I'm stoked, I won't let you down!"
MacT: "No Dany, it's not Conroy, It's Cra"
Heatley: "Berube? I've been dying to come back East, I'm a lot more comfortable out there, and definitely feel I'll be able to get my scoring touch back, I can't wait to get to Philly, whens the next flight?"
MacT: "No Dany, it's Craig MacTa"
Heatley: "Sorry, you've got the wrong number" *Click*

I think Heatley should retire. He has nothing left. I hate to see star players playing like scrubs.

I hate seeing people tell players to to retire from a game they love.

It's amazing how many people think that's actually the All Star himself. I mean, the account is literally called "Not Dany Heatley".

Well, it'll just be weird seeing Heatley in the AHL but if that's his decision, then more power to him.

my guess is that if he clears, they'll put him on unconditional waivers to have his contract terminated and he'll go to Europe.
