Default Flames 1 Wild 0 (shootout)

https://www.calgarypuck.com/2023/03/...d-0-shoot-out/

- Jacob Markstrom brilliant in stealing them the win
- Overturned off side goal by the Wild in overtime keeps the game going
- Kadri ties it up and Toffoli wins it in shoot out.

Lucic – Dube – Lewis 7.7%

Is that a rolling total from last game?

How many people turned it off when the Wild scored? I’ll bet quite a few!

It looked offside live almost did turn it off when Toffoli watched the iPad and left.

Easily Markstrom's best game of the year. But more importantly, he is starting to build some momentum and string some solid performances together.

If he gets hot, there might actually be a chance!

Even if they don’t win enough, it’s positive for next season.

Rest of our season schedule is way easier then Jets, daddy Marky keeps this up and we get back to playing hard every shift and we can catch the Jets, jets play Minny, a hungry Florida team, then TB, Boston and Hurricanes 3 games in a row against 3 of the best teams in the entire league. I’m hanging onto hope, will be tough but I’m happy we still in the running, and nice to see Marky will be leading the way.

You can’t underestimate how much becoming a first time dad has on a fella, not only are you stressing about becoming a father, your watching your better have go threw the scariest thing she’s probably ever gone threw and all you picture is blood everywhere, I think that’s the main reason he sucked so bad all season and now he’s a whole new man and back to being the Marky we know from last season

Wait....I was assured, no more than 2 days ago, that the team hated Darryl Sutter and had quit on him.

So...maybe that wasn't the case?

Weird.

Yes, sucks for the Peg but they seem to be the most realistic target for the Flames. Would prefer to see a US team flop out.

Good writeup

On the preamble -

1. Agree, Markstrom was absolutely brilliant. Stellar
2. Re: the Toronto phone call. I see Bettman was recently in Calgary, and it seems there is a bit of alignment on a new building. It helps to play ball
3. *I don’t think Kadri tied it up on this night.

What do you mean re: Kadri? He sure did tie it up in the SO, game was on the line.

When is Mangiapane going to do something dangerous offensively again? The guy hasn't been threatening for a long time, it seems.

Had to look it up but ya, no points in his last 7 games. Team could use him right now.

A bunch of posters noticeably absent from the GT and PGT; was hoping one or two would’ve gotten caught in the premature PGT with one of their prepared hot take diatribes in writing the Flames epitaphs.

Troll-a-lol.

Two very unconvincing wins and you really want to trot that out?

Seriously dude?

Did that team look like one that had quit on its coach?

Nothing to do with winning or not. Teams that have checked out do not put out that kind of effort nor react the way they did.

Unless the narrative is now they are going to win/effort just to spite the head coach?

Just about every statistic, both counting and analytical, would suggest this group has been involved all year, but simply have been unable to finish or get adequate goaltending the majority of the season.

Or do you have some insight that tells you different?

If so, I'm all ears.

I’ve been constantly critical of that 4th line, but I didn’t know it was that bad. The Flames cannot have a weakness like that when they have other options like Duehr. If the Flames replaced Lucic with Duehr, replaced Dube with Ruzicka, and replaced Ritchie with Dube, that would be close to ideal, IMO.

Pelletier - Lindholm - Toffoli
Dube - Kadri - Huberdeau
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Duehr - Ruzicka - Lewis

That’s fine. Just do that, please.
