Day 8 (PM of Friday of Feb 16 - AM of Saturday Feb 17)
The Free Skate in the Men’s Figure Skating will begin at 18:00 and should be on TSN 1, 3, and 5. Keegan Messing will be the 14th skater and Patrick Chan will skate 21st.
Also beginning at 18:00 is the Qualification in the Women’s Ski Slopestyle. Kim Lamarre will be the 3rd skier to go and is defending a Bronze Medal from Sochi. Yuki Tsubota will be the 4th skier to go and she is trying to improve on the 6th place finish she had in Sochi. 23-year-old Dara Howell is the defending Gold Medalist in this event and is the 19th skier to compete. I believe that this will be on TSN 2.
The Women’s Super G begins at 19:00 and I believe it will be on Sportsnet. Valerie Grenier, Candace Crawford, and Roni Remme are skiing for Canada.
At 20:10 Canada’s Men’s Hockey Team looks to move to 2-0 as they take on the Czech Republic, this should be on CBC. Also at this time in Women’s Hockey the Russian team takes on Switzerland in the Quarter-Final with a date against Canada on the horizon for the winner.
The final for the Women’s Ski Slopestyle is scheduled to begin an 21:00.
Kevin Koe’s rink looks to remain undefeated while taking on Sweden at 22:05.
Starting at 00:40 in the other Quarter-Final in Women’s Hockey, Finland takes on Sweden with the winner moving on to face the US. Also at this time in the Men’s Tournament South Korea takes on Switzerland.
At 02:30 the Women’s 4x5km Relay in Cross Country begins. Not sure which channel this will be on.
On CBC at 03:00 Short Track Speed Skating returns after a couple of days off with the heats for the Women’s 1500m being up first. Marianne St-Gelais is in the 2nd Heat, Kim Boutin skates in the 4th Heat, and Valerie Maltais will be in the 5th Heat. The Semi-Finals are scheduled for 04:13, and the medal race should start at 05:05.
Scheduled for 03:44 is the beginning of the Quarter-Finals in the Men’s 1000m. Samuel Girard is in the 2nd Quarter-Final while Charles Hamelin is in the 4th race. The Semi-Finals should be at 04:43, with the Final being at 05:21.
At 04:15 the Women’s 12.5km Mass Start in Biathlon begins and should be on Sportsnet 1. Rosanna Crawford will be the only Canadian in the race.
Beginning at 04:20 is the 3rd of 4 runs in the Women’s Skeleton. Elisabeth Vathje, Jane Channell, and Mirela Rahneva are the Canadian participants.
The Qualification in the Men’s Aerials begins at 04:00 and will be on TSN 1, 3, 4, and 5.
Rachel Homan is still looking for her first win and will try and fight it against the US starting at 04:05.
At 05:10 In Men’s Hockey Group B action Russia takes on the US and Slovenia faces Slovakia.
Starting at 05:30 the 1st Round in the Men’s Individual Large Hill Ski Jump will begin Calgarian Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes will jump 19th. The Final for this event is scheduled to begin at 06:30.

Canadian medal hopes tonight:
Short Track - pretty much any of our skaters could medal in both the men's and women's races.
Ski Slopestyle - I'm not really sure - none of the Canadians have great odds on Bodog, but obviously they have good results from Sochi.
Figure Skating - Chan is a long way back and has to be a longshot at this point.
Skeleton - Vathje was fastest in the second run but a rough first run has left her probably too far back to medal.

(don't know where else to put this)
Apparently Air Canada just agreed on Twitter to send the Arkells to perform for Team Canada in person

Unfortunately some of the skaters seem like they are in a different league than Patrick Chan now.

Looking forward to watching the Men's hockey game tonight. This will be a big swing game for Canada as far as hoping to finish top 4 in round robin. Win this and they are 2-0 with one game left against South Korea.

I've been going to bed around 7:30-8:30 every morning and waking up around 3:00-4:00 every afternoon.

Sleep patterns? Pfft. Amateurs.
I bought a big bag of meth a week ago and I haven’t been to sleep since. Not only have I watched every event but my condo is spotless and I’ve lost like 15lbs already.

Anyone else get a pedobear vibe from the Russian coach in slopestyle? He’s awfully hands on with his 16 year old skiers.
