2019 Brooke Henderson and PGA Tour Golf Thread
Brooke, as the 2 time reigning Canadian Female Athlete of the year gets top billing in the thread for 2019. Can she bring in another major this year?
Some additional Canadians on the PGA Tour this season gives us a few to cheer for.
Ames will be a real threat on the Champions Tour this year, with a couple of other Canadians looking to get a few starts including veteran Jim Rutledge.
Web.com Tour will have a strong Canadian presence.
This could be a breakthrough year for us in pro golf.

It's too bad the PGA tour wasn't a little more exclusive to give viewers more familiarity on the leaderboard tournament to tournament.
I get that it can't be this exclusive (Sentry tournament of champions) but smaller fields are always so much more fun to watch.

Hilarious awkward comment of the day.
Announcer 1: It's a resort course but when you look at these winners the cream always finds a way to rise to the top
Announcer 2: Uhh there's only cream in the tournament

KC, you started 2 of these threads for this season. Which one do we use?

Oh, it appears I did. My apologies.
Let's use this one going forward. Easier to run this per calendar year for the pga I think.

I do not like this leaving the flag in thing.
This is a perfect example of a solution looking for a problem.

It looks weird on TV, but it is an excellent development for recreational golf. It will definitely speed up play.

Agreed, it should speed up play a lot at the amateur level. I did not watch this event. Were they leaving the flag in all the time? My understanding was it was optional now.

DeChambeau was for pretty much every putt. I saw some other guys leave it in for very long putts.

Eight Canadians in this week's Sony Open. Pretty great field overall, too.
Which Canuck do you think has the best chance at winning one this year?

Brooke will win at least one, likely a few.
For the PGA Tour, my money is on Ben Silverman. He can go really, really low when he gets going. The problem seems to be that he can't keep the momentum between rounds. But I'm willing to guess that he gets 4 rounds together this year in the same tournament.

Hadwin is still a tier above the other Canadian male golfers. Hopefully he can get a win or at least a couple top 10s to move into the top 50 of the world golf rankings and qualify for the Masters. I think that Weir is the only Canadian currently qualified for any majors this year.

Canadian Adam Svensson is your Round 1 leader at the year's opening tournament with a blistering 9 under.
Heck of a start!

Followed up with a 74.
I know it's early, but I'm worried about Nick Taylor. He misses too many cuts.

Sloan finishes T-33 and Svensson climbs a few spots to finish in T-42

Just to reiterate how important this tournament was for Conners. 125 in points last year had 370 ish points.
Conners has 331 already.

He's definitely had an interesting start to his season. 3 missed cuts and a second place, t3, and t23 in the 3 tournaments he made the cut. You're right though, those points are huge to a guy playing with 125-150 status.

David Hearn has been middling about with that exact status for the past two or three seasons.
If Connors stays healthy he's going to get his card back.

Hadwin with low score in the stadium course and t4 today. That puts him in pretty good shape to get a result he needs this week. Figjam with a 60 on the easy course. 8 Canadians in the field again.
