Glad to see that they've dropped the last gen versions to make it look... exactly the same as usual.
I kind of feel like the EA team responsible for the NHL games is only contracted to work for the 2-3 weeks before the games release to help update the roster and to implement some random, unnecessary novelty item.

I don't want to admit that I'm kinda liking 24. Not sure this will have enough to entice me, but if they've ironed out a lot of the jankiness I might just try this one. The presentation is also so, so very bad.
From the sounds of it this version might have some manner of memory system where it highlights previous meetings between teams. I kinda love that idea and have wanted to see something like it for years. Whether they implement it well is of course something we won't know until later.
Yeah am having fun with 24 online with friends. Hate to say it but it isn't bad
Look, it's got its issues without question, but man I do love the hitting and the pressure system. When you mess up and the other team gets a few shots, it becomes legitimately hard to clear the zone. I love that.
I wish they would release an updated retro version, like the 2001 PS1 game. Just with more modern graphics.
It was just easier to pick up and play. The last EA NHL game I bought was from 2 years ago, and by the time I learned how to play properly, I was tired of it. It seemed like a chore. It just seems like adding more complexity takes away from the fun.
And yeah, I'll admit that part of that is getting older.

What do you mean by the time you learned to play properly? They have simple controls included, if you just want to play single player its not hard to just jump in and play. There is a PC version of NHL 2004 that a group keeps updated with some graphic updates and rosters called NHL 2004 Rebuilt.
This is one my favourite annual CP threads where people login to bash the video game and say the same things on a yearly basis. I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

I love the NHL games. Some years have been better than others, but it's still something I get a lot of enjoyment out of every year.
Sports games exist in a funny little spot. "The AI will be bad"...I mean, there's plenty of systems within the game where an individual player can control how their AI teammates play, and then it's on the gamer to then learn how to use those systems and match them with their own skill for maximum success. Getting into and understanding the way you can control your AI teammates is a good portion of strategy ontop of the actual 'controller skill' that a player has.

You left out the best part (when they all buy it anyways).

I'll play it a bit when it comes out on gamepass. Other then that, not paying a dime for it. I actually liked 24 quite a bit. Had a good time when I ramped up the hitting and just turned into a Scott Stevens wrecking ball for my BAP. Didn't take the game too seriously and had fun with it.
