Pork Rinds - Yay, or Nay?
Every time that I go to the snack section of the grocery store, I always see a section of pork rinds, but I never see people actually eating them anywhere. They must be doing it in private somewhere. Who here is a closet rind muncher?

What about corn nuts? How did they become so popular to the point where they can be one of the main sponsors for almost every UFC event? I mean they're decent and all I guess, but nothing special either. Although I make sure we have enough stock for whenever a big UFC card is on, that way we can experience the feeling of a live UFC event at home!

Pork rind or Scratchings as they call them over here are still very popular, although I think they may be prepared a bit differently. Every pub has them and really what's not to like about little bacon bite type things? Yes they are high in fat and sodium, but they are generally sold in small portions so you don't really over do it.
They are a great expedition food as they don't spoil and have a high energy content. If they are good enough to bring to the poles they are good enough for me.

Little bit of information for you. Pork-rinds are "better" for you than potato chips.
If you had a choice between eating potato chips or pork rinds, which one would you choose? Instinctively, I would choose the potato chips. It turns out that between the two items, the pork rinds are actually the healthier alternative. The misconception that rinds are bad for you have definitely hurt its reputation. Compared to an ounce of potato chips, pork rinds contain no carbohydrates, 9 times the protein (17 grams), and similar fat.

I actually do like them, although the idea of them is kind of gross... but I can't help myself. I used to get homemade ones from a farmer and they were awesome.
I just find it weird that I rarely actually see anyone eating them. There's like a stigma on them.

I only buy pork rinds when I need to fill up on protein and they are a good carb replacement snack.
Eating them regularly is probably quite bad for you though.

Eat them once or twice a year during road trips to the States. The spicy pork rinds are pretty tasty.

Coming soon from the minds behind Vancouver's, "Crack Shack or Mansion?", it's "Corn Nuts or Meth Mouth?".
And a "Yay" on the pork rinds poll. They're delicious.
