Been voting Grushnikov a few rounds. I think he'll have graduated to the team by early next season.

Two pairs of players for me now, that are very different pairings: Stromgren and Grushnikov, as guys who are knocking on the door, and Suniev and Battaglia, as guys who have as much potential as anyone still on the list.

But going with Stromgren

Stromgren is my pick. I would be absolutely stoked if he turned out to be a skilled winger that plays in our top six. I have faith.

Stromgren this go around, given the steps he took towards the second half of the season.

Next round onwards would be wide open.
I could potentially vote for Poirier, Grushnikov, Suniev, Lipinski or Battaglia

I am curious why folks are voting for Grushnikov over Solovyov.

I get he has a higher draft pedigree and is younger, though Solovyov only 2 years older has proven NHL and KHL experience, is a more complete player ( brings a little offensive flair) and by most accounts was the best D man on a good wranglers team.

I think too many people are sleeping on Klapka.

His 1st season in North America, he put up 13G 12A 25PTS in 60GP.
His 2nd season in North America, he put up 21G 25A 46PTS in 65GP (lead the team), and followed that up with 2G 5A 7PTS in 6 playoff games (lead the team in points, PIMs, and +/-).

Now consider he's 6'8", skates well, and is taking boxing lessons, and you start to see a pretty high likelihood of an NHL player here. I believe Klapka could be something along the lines of our own Matt Rempe, but with better offensive instincts.

That's why, yes. I like Solovyov too.
I'm a shut down defenseman enthusiast so I get excited about these players.

I went Mews, based on upside and the fact he has 22 points in 18 games (!!) when representing Canada (17,18,Hlinka).

Not a shot he should have fallen to us at 74.

I decided to go with Poirier. His upside is still very good.

Went: "Swedish Storm" Stromgren.
Thrilled with his progress.

Strongly considered here: Crushnikov & Poirier, with Battaglia, Mews, and then Suniev & Misa also garnering some consideration.

Oh, fwiw, I did a Tweeter thread with the above Cali Panthers Fan Prospect Tiers approach that got some decent sharing action and some comments.

Most comments interestingly came on Morton...

Went with Grushnikov but he or Stromgren are both good choices here.

Both will have opportunities at the NHL level this year.

I'm still counting over 10 guys with some intrigue to me on the list.

I think we go 23-25 deep in prospects that I'm interested in this summer. Not all will make it, but intriguing.

Last summer I think that list would have been closer to 13
