Another CP "Can I Eat This" Thread - This One's About Bacon
So I'm going through my grocery bags from yesterday, so get the reusable bags together to put them back in my car for next time.
Apparently I missed unpacking a bag, one that had bacon in it. The bacon is still sealed, but left out over night.
I'm assuming it's ok, but I just want to be certain.
Is room temperature (but still vacuum sealed) bacon fine to put back in the fridge and then eat?

That's a tough one...if it is cured or smoked, that might make a difference. I'd give it the old smell test and if it passes, cook all of the bacon...I don't think I'd put it in the fridge.
That being said, I have cooked bacon from the fridge that was beginning to smell rancid, and it was fine.

I would also go with my old standard of 1 hour at room temperature being 1 day in the fridge. So if it has been out for 24 hours, and the best before date is Dec 23 or later- it should be OK.

Fact 1:
Bacon is the food of the gods.
Fact 2:
No merciful god would give you bacon and then force you to throw it away.
Conclusion:
Bacon is indestructible.
(but I wouldn't eat it if it had been out for 24 hours, unless it was in a really cool place)

I'll eat it, if you don't want it.

I'm in the cook and consume immediately, not back in the refrigerator, camp.

One key point wasn't exactly clear... where was the missed bag left? Car? Kitchen table?
If it was in the car...
Was the car parked outside or in a garage?
How's the weather where you are?
For all we know it was sitting in fridge-like temperatures for a majority of the time.
Either way... just man up and eat it.

I say go for it. What's the worst that could happen.... you get to taste bacon a second time on the way back up. Hardly a bad thing.

Throwing away bacon is like boiling puppies alive.

Bacon is #1 on the periodic table of meat, "the meat of life" - no way should you waste it...

It's fine. Bacon was originally created because there were no fridges. It just lasts longer now because of fridges.

If your bacon does go bad it is Sutter's fault.

Just to let everyone know, I ate the bacon yesterday and again today.
I'm assuming that you're assuming I'm ok seeing how I'm posting here now. That assumption would be accurate.
The bacon was delicious and it didn't kill me.
Thanks CP, may you fry some bacon, and eat it soon

I remember many years ago, in Saskatchewan, you could get bacon in a can, and I don't think that was ever refrigerated.

i was thinking of suggesting that the op trade the bacon for two bowls of cereal with cream and some fresh fruit.
a more cunning gm would be able to run that pack of bacon into enough food for a whole weekend.

the only reason i keep my George Forman grill around anymore is because there is no better way to cook bacon. perfectly flat and crispy with very little grease, it's bacolicious

I once found a pack of bacon in the back of the fridge that was turning a greenish blue hue. I cooked it up nice and crispy (not burnt though) and it was delish.

I bought a pack of PC brand maple bacon from Superstore last week. It was like God punched me in the mouth, and said that it was good.
