Default Alexander Keith's: The Pride of . . . Not Nova Scotia

Yes a brewery in BC started brewing some of the sweet sweet Keiths. However, now there are more breweries across the country that will be brewing the various types of beer, in addition shutting down most of the Halifax brewery.

well not really

I can't think of Keith's and not think of the old mascot guy on the commercials who was charged with kiddie porn.

I find it very surprising that so many people in Nova Scotia continue to think that they're supporting a small, locally-owned company when they buy Keith's. In reality, the brand has been owned by Anheuser–Busch InBev (or one its pre-merger companies) for decades, making Keith's part of the largest multi-national beer conglomerate in the world.

Oh I'm well aware it's part of a large Multi-National company. However I liked that it did keep traditional aspects, which are disappearing.

On a side note, on the Facebook announcement, Keith's replied directly to my comment, sweet!

Horrible beer. Tastes NOTHING like a real IPA.

Enjoy being successfully marketed to.

I have never been a fan of Keiths, I love Mooshead though. I have been informed by a former Halifax resident that Moosehead is the crappy bear out there and Keiths rules..

I just can't see it though. It always tastes skunked to me, maybe its just the crap we get here in the prairies..

I agree with Tinordi though it doesn't taste like a real IPA. I think that if it did it would not be nearly as popular though.

Some people in BC still think the same thing about Kokanee.

I like Moosehead too, but I find that it doesn't mix well with other beers if you have a melange of different kinds laying around.

I enjoy Keith's & Kokanee; don't mind Nickleback, and listen to FM radio.
Do I need to resign from CP, or is a ban coming shortly?

I have no problem with crap beer or people who like crap beer. I can slam back my bud with the best of them. What bugs me is that a crap beer like Keiths says it's a beer that it's not and people just lap it up. It's misrepresentation. Keiths is to ale what Molson Canadian is to lager.

Now if you want a real-deal Nova Scotian IPA get the Propeller IPA if it's available, or the next time you visit Halifax. Now that's an IPA, hooooooey!

If Keith's advertised its self as as a lager I'd be fine with it.

Still, it's hilarious when all my friends drink AK, they tell me they love IPAs so I give them a nice, hoppy, 9%er and watch them cry about how strong it is.

Pussies.

I love it when people go off about how Keith's isn't a real IPA, like it's some kind of secret only they know about.

Hell, when you do the brewery tour in Halifax, they're actually pretty up front about how it isn't a standard IPA but when it was first brewed there wasn't really a standard, so they just sort of ran with the name for the next hudred some odd years.

That being said, I like Keiths, it's one of my go to beers.
I also like a lot of the actual IPA's kicking around, including Propeller.

Propeller, which was mentioned and made a quick sortie out to BC, has a great IPA. Phillips in Victoria's double IPA is amazing. Just tried one out of the UK called Hardcore that was pretty well made aswell.

We have this at Highlander on 16th ave as well as a few other Paddockwood lagers like Czech Mate and Black Cat. I love Keiths, not a fan of real IPAs though. A new one we carry that's pretty popular is Pike IPA. Brewed in Seattle, pretty sure its new here in Calgary.
