Default STAMPEDERS at Montreal Alouettes

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

This is the second part of the back-to-back games between the #1 team in the West: Calgary Stampeders and the #1 team in East: Montreal Alouettes. Last game, the Stamps played well from the start to the end. It's been awhile since I have seen the Stamps started off that fast and it was good because it was against the best team in the East. It was a great bounced back game especially after that brutal game against the BC Lions the previous week.

OFFENSE:

Burris and the receiving corp clicked very early and they are the reason for the win. Henry Burris had a monster game and for that, he was rewarded by the CFL as the Offensive Player of Week. Pretty much everyone in the receiving corp contributed for the win but the most contributions came from their star players in Ken-Yon Rambo (ran for 100 yards TD), Romby Bryant(2 TDs) and Nik Lewis(amazing individual effort for a TD. First he flattenned Estelle, then just embarrassed the 3 other tacklers later on). The OLine gave Burris a lot of time while Reynolds and Cornish did their usual contributions (running, receiving the ball and also some good blocking). I hope they clicked early again tomorrow. Rumour has it Rob Lazeo will start as a centre ahead of Tim O'Neill tomorrow against the Als. Not sure why and as far as I know O'Neill is not injured. Maybe Huf wants some toughness on the OLine against the Als.

DEFENSE:

The typical defense for Calgary. Anthony Calvillo got so frustrated early and the defense ended up chasing him out of the game. The defense should continue to pressure Calvillo again in this game and hopefully they chase him out a lot earlier. I am also hoping that they stop Ben Cahoon from getting the record. I like Cahoon and Ithink he deserves the record but not against the Stamps.

SPECIAL TEAM:

Better effort on the Special Team last game. They didn't give the Als returner a lot of room to run around. We still need to see Deon Murphy get more yardage on his return though.

With Saskatchewan losing to Toronto Argonauts Saturday, the Stamps can increase their lead to 4 points with the win. That would be more comfortable leads heading to the game against Saskatchewan next week.

GO STAMPS!!

Yeah Murphy has to start actually running once he catches the punt. He has really just started to deke out guys while standing still.

I think the Stamps can win the game but I'm fairly positive that the Als are going to be much better tomorrow than last week. I believe with a win tomorrow and a win next week in Regina would clinch first place for the Stamps.

Als will be in tough...kicker is injured and their #1 Centre is out of the game.

I think the Stamps will win, but it will be closer due to Als home field.

Game start at 11am MST at Molson Stadium in Montreal. The game will be televised on TSN.

NOTABLES:

RB Joffrey Reynolds needs 42 yards to surpass the 1,000 rushing yards for the sixth straight season.

Watch for the Browner-Richardson match up again on this game.

ROSTER MOVES and INJURIES:

CALGARY: Rob Lazeo will be starting on Centre ahead of Tim O'Neill who started as a centre for 13 games this season. According to Coach Hufnagel O'Neill is not injured or hurting at all.
DB Johnnie Dixon will be in the lineup replacing DB Brandon Isaac(shoulder). R Johnny Forzani is placed on a nine-game injury list. DE Robert McCune will be back in the lineup after missing a couple of games with a hamstring injury.

MONTREAL: P/K Colt David will be in the lineup replacing the injured Damon Duvall(leg) while Luc Brodeur-Jordain will start as a centre replacing the injured Paul Lambert(arm).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am pretty sure Montreal will put up a better effort than last week's game. We are pretty sure the Als will give Calvillo more time this time. Stampeders needs to prevent that to happen and the only way to do that is to keep on pressuring the QB with blitzes, and not give Calvillo a look at his receivers. Stamps offense on the other hand have to start the same way as they did last game fast and strong. Special team for the Stamps needs to play a lot better especially the returner. With McCune coming back to the lineup, he will give the cover team a boost. Before the injury, McCune was one of the first player tackling the returner.

GO STAMPS GO!!

If we don't get sustained pressure on AC, we will lose.

Burris is off. He's confused by the defense and isn't focussed with the two fumbles. Stamps should put Tate in before this turns into another BC type route as I expect a pick coming up in the next series.

Gotta wonder about the mental preparedness of the Stamps sometimes. You could just see from the get go that they were not into it.

Man that Burris drop looks even worse on the replays lol.

Burris needs to really figure it out.

Quite a frustrating performance from him so far.

Get Joffrey involved.

Coaching staff should know by now. You can usually tell within the first couple of series if he's off his game. They are going to lose this game if he remains in the game.

Well in that case I guess they are going to lose because they will definitely lose if Drew Tate is in the game.

I knew Als will make some adjustment on both their offense and defense but I didn't expect the Stamps offense will do the same. So far, Stamps defense is the only reason why this game in not a blowout yet. They can only do so much and they'll get tired soon.
Burris is having a bad day so far and it better change soon.

I don't see how Tate could do much worse than Burris had done so far. Nothing is working.

Giving Montreal excellent field position all day is not going to help either.

Another terrible pass attempt by Burris.
If Montreal gets a touchdown here the games over.

Because Henry is lighting things up right now? He was lucky he wasn't picked on that terrible pass behind the receiver. I can't see how Tate could be any worse than a QB that has turned the ball over twice in a quarter and can't complete a pass.
