LF Car electrical work
So, i have an issue.
One day, my PW just stopped working, and I correlated this to a frayed wire in the door jam. I spliced it. Next thing you know, everything else went wrong. My fob only works when the car is on, power doors don't work, stereo doesn't work, and trunk release is not working. Its a 2002 Sebring. Just looking for an estimate or some advice as to who/where I may get this working, while not spending exorbitant sums of money i don't have.

If you are sure you have fixed the frayed wire, try disconnecting your battery for about a half hour or so.
It will reset your computer and may reset everything.
Good Luck.

Terminals clean? cables all tight? ground wire isnt corroded? Just trying to suggest things before you spend money on a mechanic.

Don't take it to any old mechanic, take it to a place that specializes in electrical. I had an electrical problem once... Took it to a mechanic, he dicked around for a couple hours and gave up, and I still had to pay (of course). Then I found a place that actually specializes in electrical, and he figured it out. His bill was funny, ~189 for labour, and $5 for a new piece of wire.
Can't remember the name of the place, but it was somewhere close to Heninger Toyota. In that industrial area behind it.

Do you know how long the repair took? mine is quite a big screwup. Did they charge a flat "diagnosing" fee, and then charge time after that?

I can't really remember, as this was about 6 years ago... But I do remember that it was a pretty mysterious problem, along the same lines as yours. The guy told me he'd start eliminating all the possibilities starting with the most likely/logical, and all he could do is charge by the hour. It ended up taking him about two and a half hours to figure it out, fix it, and make sure there wasn't another problem.
And I just went for a little meander using google streetview, and I think I found it... Alberta Auto Electric - corner of manchester road and 36 ave SE. Two blocks east of Heninger Toyota. Not sure I necessarily want to vouch for them, since I only used them once, years ago... but like I said, they were efficient and fair the time I did go there.

Try Mikkelsens. They specialize in vehicle wiring.
