Default Cavs Owner's Open Letter to Fans... Lol

Wow, this is pretty crazy. We'd never see this in the NHL. And how dare he use Comic Sans MS for something so serious!! This isn't a joke, its actually on their website!

Link

Quote:
As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

(...)

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

Ya because the Cavaliers were such an awesome team before Lebron came along.

Betrayal?? weird... it's business, not basketball. He can take THAT to the bank. So weird he put that on the website.

And yeah comic sans??? Even more bizarre... nobody can take you seriously if you write in comic sans.

He injected his team with samples of Mark Messier's blood that was flash frozen in 1994.

It's all colored text so it was sarcasm, obviously. (Can't use Green, that would remind people of the Celtics) Comic Sans to help confirm that for the naysayers.

He is right that James' actions this week past are narcissistic and self-promotional. Just sign with a team, hold the press conference and move on. All of this other nonsense just makes Lebron look stupid.

That being said, the rest of that letter was just an amazing display of selfish stupidity on the part of the team owner. He had James for SEVEN (!) years. Guess what? That's no longer than NHL teams get to keep their players, and it is one year more than MLB gets their players when they make the show. Free agency is part of the beast, and most guys will take money or the chance at a title ahead of home town loyalty.

My problem with what Lebron did has everything to do with him, Bosh and Wade running to Miami like a bunch of little girls who can't do anything by themselves.

I don't even care if they took a paycut. Its ridiculous.

It would be like Ovechkin, Iginla, Duchane, Taveres, Hall, Seguin, Toews, Kane, Crosby, Malkin.....2-3 of them signing as free agents all with one team because they want to win the Stanley Cup.

I thought its been mishandled by both sides. Lebron making his decision on TV was stupid and came across as arrogant, and I can see why the Cavs fans felt like it was a slap in the face. It just seemed like needlessly stringing them along and then slamming the door in their face. Plus the whole thing gave off some type of god complex vibe, which it seems by commentary, annoyed most people.

On the other hand, the owner should've taken the high road. Everyone should be used to the fact that free agency means star players can leave.

It begs the question, whats more important? The championship or how you win it?

If Lebron stayed in Cleveland and brought them a title at some point, he would've been a legend. If he wins in Miami, no one's really going to think of it as anything special. Its a team of superstars.

Just like some people (including me) think Ray Bourque's Stanley Cup win was a little tacky.

Ray Bourque gave 20 years of service to one team and couldn't win a championship. He choose to be traded to a team where he thought he could win, and even then he only had a part in it.

You can't put a bunch of superstars on one hockey team and expect to win the cup. But you can do that with basketball, and how a MUCH better chance of winning than you would at hockey.
