Sim Cards

OK, so I have a question for those in the know. I really don't know that much about sim cards and how this all works, so forgive me if any of these questions are stupid...

I have a new phone (Bold 9700) on the way. It comes with a sim card. I currently own an iPhone which of course has all my contacts, etc on it. Now, can I simply remove the sim card from the iPhone and put it into the BB and use the one that comes with the BB and put it into the iPhone, to prepare for sale of the iPhone?

Or, do I need to simply erase everything on the iPhone and start fresh with the BB? They are both on Rogers. Thanks for any help!

Well, I've done some web searching and I think I've answered my own question, although if I have something wrong, then please correct me.

Looks like I should be able to slide the sim card out of my iPhone, put it into the new BB and then be good to go. I could put the one that comes with the BB into the iPhone as well I think.

When you stick a SIM card with stored contacts into a new Blackberry, I’m pretty sure it offers to transfer those contacts into the BB’s contact DB stored on the phone itself.

I did this about half a year back, i took my sim card out of my iphone and popped it into my bold, and it copied all the contacts over to the my berry.

btw, if your selling i know a friend of mine that somewhat ruined his iphone while rafting and is in the market to buy, if you don't have a buyer let me know.

And make sure, because any new contacts you might have added to your iphone might not be on your sim card, and if i remember correctly iphone doesn't let you copy to your sim.....don't quote me on this, but i do remember that i had to manually add the new contacts i put on my iphone onto my berry

So if I remove the sim card and put it into the BB and take the new one I'm getting with the BB and put it into the iPhone, that should do the trick right? I would still have to delete any personal data. music, pics, etc. from the iPhone afterward correct?

And hatty, yes I will be looking to sell the 3G. I'm surprised by the going price still for these on Kijiji...wow. It is an 8GB 3G in excellent condition.

I believe so, yes. The BB makes a distinction between contacts in system memory and on the SIM. I see this any time I have to wipe a BB at work - when I do the wipe, it always offers post-wipe to import the contacts on the SIM. Most people only have the defaults on there, like the customer assistance number for their provider, etc.

Well if I look at the official Telus information it says it can only store 250 contacts on the SIM card.

What happens if you have more?

Well I'm not saying I have 250 contacts. I have 84 actually.

I suppose if I started listing businesses and food places that I use, my contact list would go up by quite a few.

250 ain't that much for some people.
