I'm pretty sure you can't move video tapes to a DVD burner via BUS ... do you need a firewire? Is that it? Software?

Any thoughts?

I think you need a firewire

I use the NERO software that came with my DVD burner(LG) purchased at Memory Express.

The firewire card came with an editing software package called Pinnacle. I really am happy with this software for editing home videos. You can also digitize older tapes this way and transfer them to what ever out put format you like including DVD, windows media, VCD, etc.

I hope this helps you out

Yes you can use firewire (you can pick one up of Ebay for about 10 bucks), the card usually comes with software, but it really isn't that great (the one I got wasn't) so you may have to buy some better software.

I dunno about you guys but I found transfering video over to your computer through firewire (or any other method) and buring them to a DVD to be very time consuming. If you don't want to edit the video I would just buy a DVD recorder with AVLink (I think that is what it is called) and you can connect your DV camera direct and just record.

Just my opinion

Yah you need a firewire card. Too much data to be trasfered.

I use pinnacle as well, works pretty good but I suck at editing.

Do you guys know of a good place in Calgary to get good Taiyo Yuden blank DVD's? I only see them on NCIX.

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...en&promoid=1046

I haven't got to the point where I need to archive my video off to DVD, but I'm getting close and I want to make sure and get DVD's that'll last longer than a year or two (purple dye ones).
