Default Mount & Blade: Warband

Anyone played this game yet?

It has flown under the radar and I don't think it is available in stores (just online).

It is kind of a cross between Counterstrike & Rome Total War. I played it for about 20 hours this weekend - because it was that awesome. I haven't video gamed like that in a long time. I've just been playing the single player so far, but apparently the Multiplayer is great too.

I played it way back in the day before its official release and found it interesting, but a little repetitive for my tastes. I haven't checked it out since it got the "Warband" moniker and all that (it's the sequel?), but I'd like to try it out again sometime in the future.

I did enjoy recruiting a group of savages to go and pillage random villages, though. The character models and animation used to be exactly like the old ugly Morrowind ones, though, and didn't look so good. Seems they've changed it, though.

Not up to par visually but if you can get past that some of the finest mounted combat in vidgame history. It's also one of the most addictive games i've ever played.

Never heard of this game until now, but it looks very cool.

In the single player mode do you have to build an army and be part of a castle? What happens if you just raid all day? You get to build a base in the woods and store all your loot there, then try and dodge hunting parties from the castles?

Can you just be like a roaming swordsman, going into all the kingdoms just checking stuff out, maybe getting caught up in a few battles?

Pretty much all of the above. Raid all day and piss people off if you like - become a King's Vassel and reap the rewards (towns, castles and cities). Build up your faction reputation so people come when you ask them (i.e. your city being raided, organizing an army). Raid Caravans for massive loot. Burn villages to the ground and piss people off.

Become a Marshall in your faction and be able to organize massive armies... All the while keep building up your fame and "right to rule", so you can rule the empire. Switch factions, betray people, you name it.

It's a pretty sweet game. Graphics aren't amazing, but oh my god is it ever addicting.
