Default Insomnia, Rob Anders doesn't have it.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

What a useless piece of crap. One each for all you conservative Calgary West sheep who voted this guy in.

Anders was drifting off while sitting behind Duncan during a testy exchange in the House of Commons.
When contacted by the Herald Wednesday Anders said he was “too busy” exercising to comment.
“I am too busy working out, thanks,” he said before the phone line went dead.

I'm certainly no CPC supporter, and Anders is indeed a useless waste of an MP, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt here. This is just the media reporting on something silly and pointless instead of covering real political news (like Harper's crime bill that will cost us billions but not make our streets any safer).

Who of us hasn't been in a situation when you're in a class or a meeting or something and you uncontrollably get the head nods? He was just unlucky enough to be caught on camera.

He's still a massive d-bag, though.

Why does the video say that's Duncan who fell asleep? Am I missing something here?

Duncan is the MP talking, the Red arrow looks like it was added later so you know where to look while the Duncan graphic looks to be official.

This is my take on the whole thing also (including not liking Anders). What if there was a personal reason as to why he was so tired? Illness? Family emergency? Up late working (ok maybe not that one!)? Yet he still dragged himself to work that day.

As MarchHare has pointed out, I think that all of us have been in this situation before. Jump all over the guy for being the d-bag he is, but without knowing the details of why he was exhausted it is just the media (and opposition) grasping at straws for a story.

A friend told me a younger Rob used to party all night and sleep at his desk all day at one summer job he had (allegedly).

To me its a whatever situation, its not like he's defending democracy from the red horde, if you pan the camera around the house of commons, you're going to see Liberal's NDP'ers and Conservatives nodding off.

I hear they have to put a white noise filter in when Elizabeth May nods off because she snores like a son of a b%tch.

Rob Ander's is a jacka$$ and a complete tool, but what he does happens.

You're a jackass because of your avatar photo, not because you almost nodded off in a meeting.

I have difficulty staying awake in the few meetings I have every week (if I am not being engaged). I cannot imagine how much harder that would be if I had to be present for the meetings an MP has to attend regularly.

The riding is going to vote conservative regardless of the individual (proven time and time again by continually re-electing Canada's most useless MP), but the CPC has made it difficult for anyone else to challenge him for the spot. Heck, I'd even buy myself a CPC membership and get someone less useless in there to represent my riding. It isn't a left or right issue, or the fact that he nodded off briefly (?) in parliament. He's just a waste of skin and the party knows that if he was put in a riding with a proper challenge (whether from within or from another party), he'd be dead in the water.
