My friend, any self-respecting U of C student knows what day BSD is on. Hell, a good portion of the city knows what day it's on I think.

The beer gardens are pretty good, but I think the best part is the fact that everyone gets up at 6 or 7 and just gets blasted. If you're in rez, be prepared for a lot of loud music and yelling very early...we were already up last year, but a guy was rolling through every floor of Kan playing bagpipes. It's just a gigantic sh*tshow.

I am a little disappointed in the bands they've got playing this year. Last year they got The Dudes, The Wet Secrets and Smalltown DJ's to play...glad to see they (Smalltown DJ's) will be back again...they put on a helluva set last year. Dunno much about this year's bands.

You know, one of the reasons I picked the U of C was due to the fact that when I was in grade nine or ten I came down to Calgary to watch my sister do some swimming thing. It just so happened that the Friday we were down was the day of BSD. It was the most epic piece of drunken debauchery I had ever witnessed.

Are you able to come this year Locke? Apparently they've restricted it to current students only, no alumni.

I've never participated in BSD (I'm from UA), what is this? I've heard stuff about it... I think the closest thing we have is Beer gardens. But Beer gardens is one of the most tame parties out there. You would think Edmonton has people that like to party and run around like jackasses... nope, just a buncha nerds.

Bermuda Shorts Day. Last day of classes. no one goes to class and they partition off certain spots on campus for people to get fall down drunk and have sweet times. Pretty much the whole university.

I doubt it. I've gone the first 2 years, but after that I just couldnt. Its partly due (now) to being done, but previously its been a problem because BSD is at the end of April and I'm an accountant, my time is somewhat spoken for.

Although, this year its pretty early...

Anyways, yeah, BSD is awesome, I remember my BSD ritual being a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs and Beerios.

I once had a friend in rez who decided that Rye-reeos were the way to go. I strongly recommend against this course of action.

Find a good pub crawl that starts around 3 or so would be my recommendation. The best memories I don't have are from pub crawls post-beer gardens BSD.

I've got one on the 19th too...we're just hard as fack at U of C. Hell, I went and got liquored up after the Team Canada gold and I had two midterms the next day!

I'd disagree with the pub crawl idea...stay till the end of the beer gardens then figure out what you want to do. I find that pub crawls just end up in everybody you're with getting separated, or some people getting kicked out of the bar when it's 20 below and they don't have a coat so they've got to wait for everyone else to quit drinking (this happened in Banff so there was no cabbing home). Also, by the time 5 o'clock rolls around, I'm pretty well maxed out for a while. Last year I went from 6:30 am till the gardens closed, then went back to rez, partied for a bit, passed out for a couple hours, went downtown, wasn't allowed into the bar on account of my shorts, came back to rez, passed out for another hour, then got up and drank until 3 am. Needless to say, the hangover wasn't pretty.

Has any of the recent ones been held indoors? Last one I attended was back in '01 and they decided to cram the party into old Mac Hall because of a snowstorm. I vaguely remember the crowd chanting "Tits, Tits, Tits!" and it was only 3pm and half the room was pass out drunk, maybe it was the inspiration for the Red Mile years later.

1 final already finished (an 8 hour final on Sunday) and 2 more the day after BSD. Even if I did want to go, I certainly wouldn't have time this year.

I'm sure you're used to dealing with Bureaucracies. Remember, this is one day, not all semester.

If I happen to be teaching on BSD, I try to schedule something important for the students just to be a d*ck. They've already done their course evaluations as well!

BSD: It's like combining your birthday and spring break into the most awesome day ever.

Should be a good time this year, it was pretty good in lot 32 last year, the best one of my University career has to be 2005 BSD though. It was probably plus 20 degrees and bikinis and booty shorts were aplenty.

Some words of advice:

BSD is the best day of the year to meet chicks and as a first year student you should take advantage of this. The hotties that you have been scoping all year will be hammered, and now is the best time to make the introduction.

Well it is awesome to be fall down drunk at 11 AM be sure to pace yourself as the fun truly starts in the beer gardens and at the after parties. Throwing up, passing out and being home by 2 is no way to spend BSD.

Bring a condom
