Ducks are proud to welcome Martin St. Louis to the organization!
Well heading into the last few days of trading the Ducks GM had planned to be quiet and let the team go with the current roster. However, the team had not been able to compete with LA or MIN for most of the year so something needed to be done to have any chance of doing some damage in the playoffs.
As soon as Martin St. Louis was available, our ears perked up. He has 80 points already in the NHL, while older he brings a 72OV this year and at least the same next year. He is another 1st line player that can compliment Iginla.
Here is how the trade breaks down:
To Anaheim
Martin St. Louis
To San Jose
Evander Kane
Dustin Boyd
It definitely sucks losing Evander. However, he is in a very bad Atlanta organization and didn't have the best rookie year. We feel we have the chance to win right now while also having other blue chip prospects in the ECHL that we can rely on in Doughty, Duchene, Backlund and Schenn. St louis will fit in our cap structure next year, especially since it is likely that Chara is moved out in the summer.
Thanks to San Jose for the talks, we wish the best to Kane and Boyd in the Sharks organization.
