Team Sweden's medical staff said that Hornqvist did not suffer and concussion, however he will continue to be montitored by the Swedish training staff. His head appeared to hit the boards after being drilled by Pitkanen's elbow. Hornqvist had to be helped off the ice.
Reports in the Swedish press said Hornqvist wanted to return for the third period, however he was told by the staff that he should not. He hopes to return to Sweden's lineup in time for Wednesday's quarterfinal against the winner of the Slovakia/Norway qualification round game on Tuesday.
I remember when people were saying he was going to be the next top defenseman in the NHL and were rating him higher than Dion Phaneuf and Shea Weber based on that one season he put up a bunch of points before being injured.
