More Trades in Columbus

The overhaul continues in Columbus as defenseman Brian McCabe has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Heading with McCabe to Tampa are prospects Colton Gillies, Martin Jones and depth defenseman Cory Murphy.

Heading to Columbus are Mikael Samuelsson, Clarke Macarther, Kyle Quincey and a 2nd.

"It's always tough to lose a guy like McCabe however, we think it was the right move at this time for our organization. Gillies has not panned out as expected and with so many young goaltenders in our system now, he was the odd man out. We also feel the two kids Macarthur and Quincey are coming along nicely and can fit right into this team" says Penney. "It is also nice to get McCabe's contract off the books for next season.

Note: Believe it or not, Samuelsson is actually having a career year in the NHL playing wth the Sedin sisters!

This deal was made to shore up the Tampa D. McCabe will slide into the mix with Blake and Hamrlik to give us a very solid top 3.

Losing Quincey may suck in the long run but with the Bolts dealing a lot of prospects in the summer for older players not making the playoffs would be a disaster.

We also replentished a some prospect depth adding Jones and Gillies to the fold.
