Isn't it free to check your messages?
Or use this number from a landline as much as possible 403.390.3602

Really? So I've become more impatient that I was before? Noticeably more impatient?

Apparently...and as FurnaceFace said, they don't charge to check messages...so they'd have nothing to gain by making the messaging process longer

They do charge you if you are out of your local calling area.

Telus used to have an option for prompts; standard, extended, and rapid. I had it on "rapid."
On standard it takes about 1:05 to retrieve and delete/save a 15 second message; and this happened right as they stopped offerring by the second billing for airtime.

What about that dumb voice that comes on after the user's message informing you to leave a message? I always thought that was to crank up minutes. I think you have to call them to have it removed.

About 2 years ago, I realized that anyone who ever called my voicemail left a message that either said "call me" or "blah blah blah blah, call me" so I realized that I didn't need voice mail and I should just call people who my call display says called me.
It is quite liberating.

I was told checking voice mail isn't free. But that was some time ago. I've always considered calling voice mail as a minute eating endeavor, which is why i always delete messages quickly as soon as i get the gist.

I've noticed it too, mostly with the "7 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . message now erased"

Press 3, 3 then 7. Problem solved. Skips over the talking. I'm amazed at how few people actually know about that.

Yeah, I don't bother letting the voice finish talking. I just start hitting the numbers for my code, and then the options.

You don't have to press 3. You can hit 7 anytime during or after and it erases the message. I practice this regularly when I get a call from someone that is going to leave a stupid message that says "Hey 4x4, gimme a call".
"Hey, 4"
7

It's possible although I haven't noticed. What I have noticed is the way all these cell phone companies now make their voicemail message as long as possible. First it is the person who you are leaving the message for (there missed call message) then for some stupid reason (make the call longer) the cell phone company has to come on and add "to leave a phone number where you can be reached please press #). WTF, if I am going to leave a phone number I will leave it in my message, quit making the voice message longer so you can charge me more.
Although, I have to admit that I have per minute billing so it probably doesn't affect me but for people who have per second billing it would.
