My alma mater SFU snapped a 24-game losing streak a couple weeks ago winning the season-opener against UBC, 1-1 now with the Huskies at home (sort of) next week.

McMaster opens their new stadium this weekend.
Quote:
It is the Marauders first game on the McMaster campus in three seasons, as the team has called Ivor Wynne Stadium home during the construction of their new venue. The new stadium cost $23 million to build and has 6,000 permanent seats. Ron Joyce, who the venue is named after, donated $10 million to the project, the largest donation to athletics in Canada at the time.

Calgary should build a smaller stadium like that for CIS football, and maybe for soccer too.

The atmosphere at McMahon must be brutal when 1000 people come out to a 35,000 seat stadium.

TD Waterhouse in London seats 8,000, expandable to 16,000.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TD_Waterhouse_Stadium

Thunderbird Stadium is 3,500 and can have up to 8,500 on surrounding grass enbankment:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbird_Stadium

Other stadiums:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIS_football

I note the stadium for Laval (Quebec City) is nearly large enough for CFL football.

I dunno, with the kind of money Mac raised for this, the city can build a pedestrian bridge, and maybe even design a second!

Although I am getting annoyed with getting calls every few months asking for money to "pay back" my alma mater. They collected fees off me for a student's centre that hadn't even broken ground before I graduated.

I wish I'd been able to go, but I had to work..

Can't wait 'til Monday though, a girl in my program was talking trash all week about how U of S was going to roll over the Clan. The funniest part was that I totally agreed with her!

EDIT: SFU vs. the Dinos next weekend for first place? Crazy stuff!

If McMaster wins, they are in the playoff.
If they lose, there is still a chance but it would be tough.

Go Marauders!
