Default Do I need to register this car to sell it?

So through a bit of luck (good for me, bad for him), a Kiwi traveller had to go home all of a sudden, and he passed his vehicle on to me. I'm not sure I can afford to insure a second vehicle right now, so I'm thinking of selling it. I have the Bill of Sale, but he had it BC registered. Do I need to get an inspection done so I can register it in Alberta so I can sell it? Or can I just do another Bill of Sale? Thanks.

edit: one potential buyer is in BC. Another is in Alberta. Does that make a difference as far as I'm concerned?

I'm no expert, but if YOU were to sell it, i think you have to register it in your name first.

I sold my truck a long time ago, 15 years ago I think, anyway I got a call 4 years
ago saying that they had found my truck and that it was stolen. The guy never registered it, and it was still in my name. At the impound I had to sign papers stating that I had sold the truck to some guy 15 years ago. It was a bit of a sh$%
show. If you sell, keep a copy of your bill of sale as long as you can.

1986 Jeep Cherokee. Not sure how much I should be asking, actually. I have a couple offers from workmates ~550. Hoping for more if I sell it to someone I don't know.

heh...maybe I ought to put this in the buy/sell forum now. Mostly looking for the answer to the original question. Thanks, Steely...you're probably right. I'll check it out tomorrow.

I took it for a drive today...seems to be in decent shape. A little damage at the front.

I've been through this situation and you do NOT need to register it. If you sell it, you will probably have to provide the new owner with your original copy of the bill of sale so when he/she goes to register it, the registry can follow the proper chain of ownership.

If I can find the cord for my camera, I'll throw up some pics. It's Auto.

Hmmm for $550 if a guy got a few months out of it it would probably be worth it. I don't imagine vehicles in that price range are too tough to sell.
