WWII in HD premiers tonight --- Maybe not in Canada
Edit: May not be on in Canada.
Booooooooo!
Tonight at 7pm on the History Channel. Two, one hour episodes per night for five consecutive nights!
I know there are some WWII buffs and someone from CP put me on to the WWII Apocalypse show so I thought I'd share this.

Hmm... unless it's only available in the US for some reason. I'm not at home, so I haven't checked the PVR.
That would suck.

That's a real shame we can't get it here.
The only good thing about this, Is I can probably see it (tomorrow) anyway, because I live in Canada and have access to the vast expanse of interconnected tubes.
Also, I have a real hatred for the History Channel because of their extremely excessive and outrageously extended commercial segments!
They showed "Saving Private Ryan" last week, The "Run Time" of this amazing film Is 2Hrs & 45 Min. The History Channel had it Scheduled from 10:00PM to 2:00AM. That's a grand total of 1Hr & 15 Min. of commercials.
The History Channel has a lot of Fantastic Programming, But they are the absolute worst in terms of commercial frequency and lenght of commercial segments.
In a Nut Shell, History Channel Sucks!

I'm very well aware of that. Commercials pay for programming of any and every kind unless it's "pay TV" or what they call in the states "Cable".
But the fact remains, The History Channel is by far the worst "offender" in terms of frequency and length of commercial segments. That was my point.

It's easier just to PVR the show or movie and then watch it later, and skip through all the commercials.

No worse than sons of anarchy on FX. They would have 5 mins of show followed by 4 mins of commercials. They have about 10 mins at the beginning of the show before they go into all out commercial mode.

Well, you may be right about that, I wouldn't know as I don't watch that show (A buddy of mine told me I should watch S.O.A.) or that network.
I subscribe to a Shaw digital package and I get all the regular cahnnels as well as some specialty networks, With what I have to surf through, nothings beats the History Channel in term of commercials.
My appologies to Jayems for de-railing your thread.

We may still get it. Just not for a few months. The same thing happened with Expedition Africa. When they originally aired it you could only see it in the States. A few months later they finally aired it on the Canadian History Channel.

I've seen this series, but I'm not sure what channel. It was just recently though.
There is some amazing footage. Stuff that I have never seen before and I have been studying it for years. I was quite impressed and it's definitely worth watching/recording.

Are you thinking of WWII: The Apocalypse?
There was a thread about that series on National Geographic not long ago.
