Fan 960 switching to Fox Sports (ESPN cut) [MRG]
Figured this is big enough news it could survive in the OT forum. If it should be in the Other Sports forum feel free to move it.
I heard it yesterday at 330ish. Changing to Fox Sports from now on for their supplemental programming.

Does this affect The Jim Rome Show on the Fan 960? That's about the only supplemental program I really care about. Mike and Mike... whatever they have on late at night... I don't personally care.

No it likely won't make any difference to Rome as his show is syndicated (not on either FOX or ESPN). The only thing that this will change is that it will be a different set of voices talking about football for the other 16 hours per day when the FAN doesn't have their own content.

The only time they go to ESPN during weekdays is overnight and that overnight show with Jason Smith is absolutely horrible that I stopped listening and the chick that fills in for him is even worse. I welcome the change!

I like Fox sports radio...but I would prefer if they would make the change of Jim Rome to Dan Patrick.

Not sure if 960 has original content on the weekend or not, but Dan Moriarity is one of the weekend hosts on Fox. He at least tries to get hockey on his show occasionally.
He's also on a one man mission to get his partner, Lincoln Kennedy to become a hockey fan.
Personally, it seems like Fox lets their hosts be a little ediger than ESPN radio.

Fox Sports is terrible.
I know people didn't like ESPN because of the football and college coverage but Fox Sports basically covers the same things except much, much worse.
Likely a lot cheaper for the FAN though and if people don't really seem to care and it is mainly on during bad times anyways it doesn't matter too much.
The one good thing is that for the most part JT the Brick won't be on. He is as bad as anyone not named Jim Rome in the sports radio business and may even know less about sports than Rome.

Oh man, that dude is brutal beyond belief, but even the perpetual football / basketball show that's on at 7:00 PM some nights is awful.

I don't mind Rome. He doesn't cover hockey enough but that's his demographic.
This probably isn't a popular opinion, but I wouldn't mind them piping in some of the shows from their Edmonton and Vancouver sister stations. When I was visiting family in Edmonton I was listening to their sports station and had a good laugh at the callers trying to rationalize why the Oilers suck.
