ALL ABOARD!

I'm not sure if I like this.
On one hand it would be pretty sweet to see some Pixar style Marvel movies.
On the other hand they could make some pretty bad "kid friendly" movies with Wolverine.

That really sucks. I hate Disney/Pixar/anything of that ilk.
This is a of money compared to when Marvel was in bankruptcy at the end of the 90s when it was bought by the owners of Toy Biz for only $400 million.

With DC seemingly going in the opposite direction, I do not anticipate good things for my most beloved marvel characters.

Marvel is actually having some good stories right now too, after all that pretentious civil war crap.

Just because Disney bought it doesn't mean it wont operate in much the same way it did. They bought Marvel because they have a winning formula. You honestly think the geniuses at Disney are going to ruin what made it popular in the first place?

Reason: Oh man. Misspelled "genius"

Look at what EA does to every videogame developer it buys.

Fair enough, but Disney is seriously brilliant. EA is very good at their sports etc, but Disney is friggin bullet proof.

The Walt Disney Corporation is I believe one of the biggest conglomerates in the world, I love how everyone assumes them acquiring Marvel means that Donald and Mickey are going to do a crossover Christmas special with the X-Men. They probably saw a lot of profit potential and bought it, will probably run independently like a lot of other companies part of the Walt Disney Corporation.

I guess just have a childhood gag reflex relating to anything and everything Disney. I seriously hated this company through my whole life. Didn't like their cartoons, didn't like their art, didn't like the companies they bought and the titles they put out. I was a huge fan of Warner Bros. and Looney Tunes and Foreign Animation and just hated everything related to Disney.

I dunno, seems that companies like Bioware, Maxis, Criterion, DICE, and Pandemic do pretty well making some of the highest quality and best selling games that get released.
EA's evil practices are in the past. Yeah they screwed over Origin but that was a long time ago. They're now a strong promoter of independent developers and creativity. Look at last year, taking risks with new IPs like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. And this year, picking up Brutal Legend.
If you want to level hate at a video game publisher, hate on Activision. They're worse now than EA has ever been.

The one wierd thing about it all will be seeing Spiderman and who ever else Marvel has walking around Disney Land along with Mickey and Minnie. I guess I saw Darth Vadar the last time I went to Disney Land so Spiderman won't be that strange.

i hope they don't use kids as Marvel Characters just like the cartoons for the movies, that would pretty much ruin it for me.

I love the Looney Tunes and yet I understand that Disney and the Looney tunes both had a vital and intricate role in the development of animation and cartoons as we see them today, without that competition we may never have seen cartoons the likes of what we have... it was a very healthy competitive situation. On a whole I prefer Warner Bro's Cartoons but I'm not sure why all the hate for Disney... they do some things that suck and they do other things that are fantastic... One of my all time favorite Cartoons (Gargoyles) was Disney and although they treated it very poorly near at the end, still not having released it all on DVD, the show it self was great.
I, for one, prefer to hope for the best here. Marvel has some fantastic characters just sitting on shelves, and Disney has a animation department that can support these characters coming to life as Saturday morning cartoons or even as a full length picture... This seems like a great match to me and could result in some really good stuff...

Crosses fingers for more Marvel programming on ABC... 'Mary Jane & Peter: The New Adventures of Spiderman' starring Dean Cain anyone?
