Save yourself some money and rent a couple of cube vans and gets some friends to help you move. Repay them for thier efforts with a BBQ afterwards and lots of beer to drink.

Been there, done that, a number of times.
I'm getting at that age where my back really appreciates if I pay someone else to do it..... and so do my friends....

We used 2 amigos, they were really good. Any damaged items were wither fixed or we were re-imbursed for. Sounds like a fairly quick move. The 2 times we moved we used them both times and were really happy, because our friends didnt have to help, and you tell them where to leave the stuff, motivating you to unpack it quicker.

If you hire somebody make sure everything is clear in regard to the distance for travelling. They typically charge for getting the truck to your first house, driving from the the first house to the second house, and driving from the second house back to their office. Just something some people don't think of.
Also, when a friend moved from Turner Valley to the north side of Calgary the movers took about 3 hours to get to the second house. Might be good to have a plan of how long they will take to get there. We are very sure they took the long way and stopped off for a little 'smoke' break.
Other than that it was awesome to hire somebody to do the moving. We still did a lot but my back was not hurting the next day.

I don't have a recommendation on who to use, I will warn you who not to use ... Two Small Men With Big Hearts. We used them and had a really bad experience, including catching them trying to steal stuff from us. In fact, I'm pretty sure they did. For sure though we caught them trying to steal a chair from us, and there are a couple things that never did show up after we moved so I assume they got it. When I say they, I'm actually referring to one person ... the driver who moved us. He was supposedly one of the higher-ups in the company though.

Suckering your friends into helping you move is a time honored tradition.
The key is asking them what are you doing Saturday and when they say nothing thinking that you are going to ask them to do something fun you sucker them with oh great do you wanna help me move. They can't say they are busy so they have to help. It works much better then asking do you wanna help me move Saturday to which they reply no I'm busy

Just say no to "A Affordable Daves". I asked for two guys and a truck, they brought three and informed me that it would be faster but I'd have to pay for the guy I didn't ask for. The third guy they brought was an old man who could hardly walk and basically moved pillows and a small lamp. I still loaded more then half the truck myself as they took smoke breaks every fifteen minutes. Seriously, we lived in a small apartment with two bedrooms and they took about four smoke breaks before the truck was loaded. When we got to the new place they took a forty five minute break to 'get their bearings' (ie: smoke their faces off). When we finally started moving stuff in they bashed up the main stairwell with a dresser drawer so I just told them to put it all in the garage and I had friends come over the next day to help move it in the house.
Then came the bill. They charged me an hour and a half to get to my apartment in the core and rounded up the entire move to six hours which only took a little under five hours. He said it was to drive back to the office which is fair enough but out of the whole five hour move I had to pay an additional two and a half hours for their travel time. Not to mention about two hours of breaks and a banged up house and broken dresser.
Do not use them, rent a truck and pick up 6 guys from cash corner and you'd be better off than dave's.

I just moved on June 8th. We used "Get a Move On". They were excellent and very reasonably priced.

I will give you a really good recommendation - PREMIERE VAN LINES (sub of Atlas I believe). I used these guys 3 times in an 18-month period. They had 3-man crews, where at least 2 guys were older/experienced. During the 3 moves not one item was damaged, no walls or floors scratched, and everything showed up. They were very efficient.
