Interesting. I assume he will assume Pete's job when he retires.

Awesome. I was hoping that he would end up back on Sportsnet West, but I'm perfectly alright with him on the FAN.

And after Pete retires, it'd be cool to hear "Monahan...HE SCORRREEEESS!!! Some kinda shot!" on a regular basis.

Awesome for Pete. I hope he finds his way back to the SN West broadcast booth sooner rather than later.

I wonder if this means they are dropping Big Chief in favour of Honey Bunches of Oats?

Good choice IMO.

Actually think Loubo is better suited to colour commentary anyways.

Personally don't think Loubo will get the Play by Play job. I think there was a reason that Ryan Pinder came over to the Fan960 and that he is the heir apparent when Peter Maher decides to drop the mic.

Great news. He is a really good guy who loves the game like few others.

Ugh, I really hope not. He struggled enough with the PBP on TV. Doing it on radio would make it really tough to follow.

Wasn't somebody bashing me over the head repeatedly with the idea that this position had to be filled by a former player or coach? Last I checked Loubardias was neither?

Great news, Loubo is as knowledgeable and passionate about hockey as they come.

+1. I've had the chance to meet him in person once. He's a nice guy, and one of the most down to earth people that you'll ever meet. Not to mention his knowledge and enthusiasm for hockey.

Just an all around class act.

Well that sucks Loubardias was awful on TV.

I did find him much better when filling in on the big show (outside of the first few weeks when he was still bitter) so perhaps he can be better in a lesser role not doing PBP.

This is a week of great Flames news. I'm so happy that Loubo is coming back to broadcasting Flames games. And I would also be happy if he was the heir. Or just did colour forever.

Nope, but somebody was suggesting that they make the best color commentators because they provide inside knowledge of the game. This hiring doesn't change that.
