Good steak house by the airport?
Need some suggestion on where to take a vendor out for dinner tomorrow. Doesn't have to be a steak house or extremely expensive but it does have to be fairly close to the airport area... I just love a good steak. I don't live up in that area or go there often for dinner so any suggestions would be helpful.
thnx in advance cp'ers

Cactus Club on Barlow - Nice looking girls and their Creole Blackened steak is surprisingly amazing.
Carvers in the Sheraton Cavalier - best quality, also the highest price.
Cattle Baron across from the Sheraton Cavalier - somewhere in the middle cost-wise and quality-wise.

Cattle Baron Steak House - Very close to the Sheraton
Actually, the Steak House at the Sheraton, Carver's, is supposely very good. Even better since you are most likely expensing the dinner, so cost isn't a factor

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I LOVE steak at the Keg. I think it's the best.

You have an Earls, Joey Tomato's, Cactus Club and Moxies in the area, but Carvers is probably the best (note: you usually need a reservation to get in to Carvers. Not required, but it can be hit or miss if you don't). I didn't like the Cattle Baron the last time I was there, but that was a while ago and it always seems busy so it must be pretty good.
The nearest Keg is over on 36th, so it isn't very handy to the airport.

Believe it or not, I have had 2 or 3 great steaks from Moxies on Barlow and McKnight.
I was quite impressed...

I give a thumbs up to the Cattle Baron... only been there once, and it was pretty good. Not a fan of hotel diners, no matter how classy they are/look.

Carver's is by far the best in terms of quality, and it's not at all a "hotel diner". One of the better steaks in the city.

Can't say I've ever been, but a buddy keeps raving about the Cactus Club Cafe. Apparently, Chef Rob Feenie is a consultant to the chain and the menu features several of his dishes.

Plus, the waitresses are HAWT (which can also be said for the Joey Tomato's in the area).

Feenie (Canada's only Iron Chef that I know of), is indeed a consultant to the Cactus Club. But it's pretty much just marketing/branding. He may have designed the menu items, but you're still getting food cooked by a chain restaurant.
Sorta like how Wolfgang Puck created his own soup line. It's still just mechanically prepared soup, but you'll pay 2$ more cuz some famous chef supposedly crafted the recipe.
I hear Feenie been a bit demoted in the "foodie" crowd in Vancouver due to his decision to "sell out".

If tough meat with no flavour is your thing, then the Keg rules.

I'm absolutely shocked, because I have never had anything resembling good steak there. Lots of other good stuff there, just not steaks.

Then try the baseball steak.
Doesn't Flatiron do steak? For the prices they have it should be a good one.

Eh, i guess knocking the Keg is the thing to do in Calgary, but I'm not ashamed whatsoever to say that I think it serves a great piece of meat. Sure it might not be the "best" according some circle of foodies (btw, that word just makes me want to punch someone), but to knock it is to not know how good you have it in Alberta.
While I have had a better steak before (at Vintage), I have yet to have one in NY (a city which is home some of the finest food anywhere) that's any better than the Keg. And I've been to Peter Luger's, supposedly the best steak house in the entire U.S, and honestly my experience was no better than the Keg.
Sure, maybe it's not the best steak in the world, but to knock it like it's some crappy piece of bologna is ridiculous. I wish i could have something that crap nearby.

You've been to Luger's but you haven't had a steak in NY? That's 100% impossible.
And if you thought the Keg and Luger's were comparable you had way too much to drink that night.
And if you live in NYC you have plenty of steakhouses just as good as the keg nearby, I can think of a dozen off the top of my head.
