What's the going rate for cash cornerers? Maybe post in the CP power ring and help out some fellow CPers who have some free time.

I bought a condo about 12 blocks up from cash corner a bunch of years ago on 14th and center.
It was an interesting neighbourhood.
You had the mustard seed about 6 blocks north, then cash corner about 12 blocks north, and the rest of center avenue was a massive hooker stroll.
I could hear my condo value plummeting into the turf.

For a few months while I was parking at Dalhousie Station, there seemed to be about half a dozen guys hanging around waiting for work. I think that might be "Cash Corner North".

Hahaha...those were guys just released from remand..not a great choice for day labour.
They don't release them there anymore, they take them downtown now.

It's a bit creepy going there. You pull up and they just swarm your vehicle wanting to hear what kind of work and what you're paying. I needed a hole dug and as soon as I said digging, most of them turned around. When I said $12/hour, most of the rest turned around. One guy said for $15 he'd do it.
But digging sucks. Moving isn't as bad, but they're going to ask what has to be moved. If you say piano, 90% of them will turn around.
Pay them decently and give them pop or beer and a sandwich mid way through and they might be inclined to put back anything that may have accidentally fallen into their pocket.

Well it was the same guys every morning for about 2 months, so I'm fairly certain that they're there looking for work.
Of course, the do look a lot like the kind of guys who would have just been released, but that's probably true for the guys at the other Cash Corner anyway.

Call me naive, but I did not know such a place existed. I must exploit this to the best of my ability.

My old landscaping/irrigation boss did that once. Got two guys to help dig some trenches. Said they were fantastic workers, and asked them to come back the next day. They both agreed, and were paid for their services. Next day, no sight of them. Not like you'd really want to rely on them, anyways.

This reminds me of that Arrested Development episode where there is a bunch of out of work lawyers... I can't seem to find the clip but it is pretty similar IIRC.

I've got some labour for him to do. Are you serious? Because I was going to go to cash corner in the next couple days to get a guy to do a little back filling under a deck.
