Phoenix Coyotes - Season Review

As you all know the current management of the Coyotes was hastily brought in to turn this team around and give it fighting chance of succeeding in this challenging hockey market. One of the first player deals involved a future starting goaltender. Jonathon Quick will be one of the core players that this team builds around in the future. The next bunch of moves were mostly of the house keeping variety - moving out impending UFA's. Ended up with a decent mix of CPHL starters and prospects close to big league debuts. Deadline day saw us bring in Roloson - he could very well be the main reason this team is anywhere close to competitive next year. Seems a capable starting tender is crucial in the CPHL. The Coyotes expect to be active in the free agent market and burn up a bunch of cap room they have.

The following is a quick summary of the player movenment near the end of the season.

Petr Sykora
Colby Armstrong
Craig Adams (ufa)

Dean did exactly what he had to do coming in here. He gave up quality to get quality and built for the future. As we all know a goalie is the bread and butter of any successful team. Dean got that and a few nice young pieces with lots of potential.

Great work so far!

You made some really solid moves Dean. You have definitely addressed your goaltending and added some younger players. You sure didn't have a lot to work with so what you've done with the players you have is quite impressive.

Addressing your goaltending was your biggest hurdle. Now that you've done that you will have the chance to really improve the rest of your team going forward.
