Default Computer Color and Resolution Problem

After I downloaded an automatic update from Windows (I think it said it was for window's defender program), it kept alerting me to restart the computer. So I restarted it and found that my color and resolution got screwed up. This is how my screen looks like right now. It used to be 1920 x 1080 display but now I can't even change the display setting under properties. I have no idea what the hell is up with the colors. Can anyone help me out here? Is there a way to fix this problem? Thanks. Edit: Forgot to mention for some reason, my computer went back to Windows Service Pack 2, and it's currently installing Service Pack 3. I had no idea that my computer downgraded itself after I reboot it...

Looks like your video card driver is gone, or you are in safe mode.

I have never heard of anything downgrading a service pack.

Reinstall your video card drivers. It looks like it's running in a default VGA mode with 8 bit color.

You just need to reinstall your videocard driver. Windows defender is a crap and I would not count on it for protection.

If I'm in safemode, how can I get out of it? Also, I have no idea what happened to my service pack. It know that it was at 3 the whole time, and when I went to My Computer properties it said it was 2 and then automatic update started saying that I need to install SP3. I can't even go on IE or FF on that computer. It keeps crashing.

If you are in safe mode, that's the explanation of why your video is all messed up.

Wait until it finishes I suppose. If you want to get out, you can just quit like normal, there is still Start-Shutdown in safe mode.

Okay its definitely not in safe mode and I tried restarting it couple of times but it still gives me the same quality. I also checked dxdiag and it seems like that the same graphic card is being detected there so I'm not sure if its the graphic card that is gone.

Any chance of a system restore point?

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore

I'll give that a try. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking about reinstalling windows.
