Internet Addiction Quiz
Seeing as I've been on vacation this last month, essentially wasting my life away most of the time while I hang out back in Canada with nothing to do, I have spent a lot of time on line. This wasteful passing of the moments of my life made me curious about internet addiction, which naturally led to me thinking of the site where I waste most of my time and then to thoughts of my fellow users.
So how do you score on this test of internet addiction? How many addicts among us?
QUIZ
I got 47.

61 as well.
And bonus points to me for immediately thinking "this isn't a multiple answer test, why can I select more than one? That's a poorly written web page."

average user
though I guess sometimes my work may be affected by my online usage more than occaisionally...
for example: I could have been calling clients and trying to book appointments over the last 3 minutes, but instead opted to take some internet quiz...but then again, if not for that, I wouldve found some other way to procrastinate

Wow, 43, I figured I would have been 100.
The whole thing is flawed though, it's making assumptions that some things it is asking are "bad" rather than just a new way of society interacting... It'd be like when language was first developed and there being a quiz to ask "are you addicted to language, one grunt for yes, two grunts for no".
It's not the Internet one gets addicted to, it's the content.
Either that or I'm in classic denial. I'm in denial aren't I?

I had a bunch of "does not apply"s:
1. How often do you find that you stay on-line longer than you intended?
I don't intend one way or the other
2. How often do you neglect household chores to spend more time on-line?
No, that's just general laziness
12. How often do you fear that life without the Internet would be boring, empty, and joyless?
It's not going anywhere so I don't think about it at all
13. How often do you snap, yell, or act annoyed if someone bothers you while you are on-line?
That's just my general bitchiness after a Flames loss
15. How often do you feel preoccupied with the Internet when off-line, or fantasize about being on-line?
Just a weird questions. It's not my luvr
16. How often do you find yourself saying "just a few more minutes" when on-line?
I don't set a timelimit so never
17. How often do you try to cut down the amount of time you spend on-line and fail?
see above
19. How often do you choose to spend more time on-line over going out with others?
If I wasn't on the net it would be due to the TV or something else
20. How often do you feel depressed, moody, or nervous when you are off-line, which goes away once you are back on-line?

Agreed on almost all of these. Besides that, internet is my form of entertainment when I'm home. I suppose you could say I'm pretty addicted to internet, but as long as you'd use that very same word when describing a bookworm or someone that constantly tinkers with an old beater in the garage. Pure entertainment.
I barely watch tv because I can't watch what I want when I want (I could get a pvr, but I just don't care about tv). I don't play video games. I'm not much of a movie person... I just like bouncing around and reading about whatever pops into my head.
Internet is like every book in the world compacted into Popular Science-like snippets. I can read wikipedia all day long. And then all night long. And all the while, checking CP for replies to one of my driving rants...
So yeah, I thought it was going to be more of a 'fun' test, but at the end, it's offering counselling to people. I don't think the questions that were asked could properly assess someone who is anti-social as opposed to someone that just prefers surfing the net whenever they're around a computer.
All that said, I got a 39. I thought it would be higher.

I don't need a quiz to tell me I'm obsessed with the internet.

For what it's worth there's a paper justifying the validity of the test.
I kind of thought I would score higher too, but I actually think it's more interesting that it's a legitimate sort of test which isn't made up by some random, unqualified person on the web and doesn't seem to be wildly exaggerating things.
