Icon59 Oilers Continue To Tinker

The Edmonton Oilers continue to make changes in the middle of a cold snap at Rexall Place, and we ain't talkin' the women...

GM Prototype completed two deals, one taking minutes to complete, the other days.

Heading to the southern Sibera, St. Louis is Jussi Jokinen and cap considerations. Joining the Oilers is Alexandre Burrows, and a '10 3rd.

"Alex has proven he can shut down pest, with lamp lighting potential. We're happy to aquire a less douchy version of Sean Avery."

Then, in a deal that the other party forgot they offered, the Oilers shipped Sam Gagner to Minnesota for Chris Kelly and Kyle Opkoso.

"Kelly's raitings in the sim are much like Burrows, and to get a top flight prospect in the deal in Opkosko, we're tickled."

It's expected that both Burrows, and Kelly will join up with the team on Tuesday against the Kings, while Opkoso will join the Roadrunners in the AHL.

PS - I have been shopping Vinny and Zetter, but haven't found the right package. Don't bombard me, but if you have top 6 quality, or a franchise Dman, ring me up.

The Blues are happy to finally get a player that can score. We're hoping that the trade will help Jussi find his scoring touch in the CPHL as he has only lit the lamp once this year. Burrows was a good player for us, but with the douchier Sean Avery on the team, the Blues needed to find a way to score.

The only downside to this trade is that GM Punk has now been banished to the couch for trading Mrs.Punks favorite player

In related news, Okposo is demanding a trade to a team who knows how to spell his name as he was greatly insulted by the Oilers GM lack of care. I hear he wants to go to the Sharks organization.

Well the Wild are thrilled to add Sam Gagner to the organization. We view him as a great young player who is signed for 3 years - something that will be critical for us the next couple of seasons.

Seems like all-around even deals. Hopefully Jokinen can spark some badly needed offense in St.Louis.

As for the Okposo-Gagner swap, I personally like Okposo more than Gagner but considering the fact that Okposo is stuck on a really bad Islanders team, I'm thinking it will impede is development.

I like the Okposo deal from Grants perspective. Gagner is already in the NHL with one decent year under his belt, he has a great 3 year deal which given how much cap is worth makes it very important. However Rob adds a good 3rd line checker while adding a blue chip prospect for later who has very high potential so overall I think it is pretty even.
