Why are you asking us if you should ask the service guy if the motor running on the fridige that he is there to fix could be harmed by running 24/7?

Are you afraid the service guy will storm out of your house, because it seems to me that asking the guy who is there to fix your fridge is a much better option than asking people on a message board if you should ask the guy about it.

No, the reason I ask is if it's even something to even worry about. I have no idea if the motors can handle that, figured someone here would know better than I as they could have had the same or similar problem.

Hence the title of the thread, "Odd Question", just askin.

Okay, but if you're not sure if it's something you should worry about, then why would you ask a hockey message board instead of the guy who is there and makes a living working with the thing you are asking about?

Seriously, I know CP can be a really great place to get info on something you're not sure about, but this is going a little too far.

What is the point of starting a thread to ask us if you should ask the fridge repair man, if something to do with the fridge he is there to fix could be an issue. Do you really trust CP that much that you would refrain from asking a repair man if an issue caused by the problem he is there to repair could also become a problem, because some guy on CP said it shouldn't be a big deal?

Wow man, get up on the wrong side of the bed today? Not sure why you even bothered posting TBH. Don't like the thread? Move along. It's just that easy.

And it's not just a hockey forum now is it, hence the presence of an off topic section.

Honestly man.....

To be clear, I'm not angry or upset about this. I posted because I think it's funny/rediculous that someone would ask a question about whether or not they should ask an expert (who is going to be in their house no less) about a potential problem with the very thing they are working on. I honestly wonder why people start some of these threads asking for advice.

What were you hoping for?

If someone had said, "Yeah, it's not a problem" would you have seriously let it be, or would you have asked the repair guy anyway?

What if someone said "Yeah, that could be a problem" and the repair guy disagreed? Would you have made a stink because some random dude told you so?

Like I said, CP can be a great resource, but sometimes people come asking for advice on what should be a simple common sense thing, and this is a great example.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just using this thread as an example of some of the silly things people ask here.

Guess what? You are being a dick. Again, don't like the thread? DONT READ OR POST IN IT.

C'mon, now your posts are becoming as rediculous as the one you claim to be complaining about.

I do like the thread, because I think it's a great example of someone asking a rediculous question with an obvious answer.

Seriously, if you don't think I'm right that this thread is basically useless becasue the question is so silly, then explain what exactly you were hoping to get from this thread.

In other words, why would you ask strangers IF you should ask an expert about if something is a potential problem, instead of just asking asking the expert.

This is the most hostility I've ever seen on CP that hasn't been directed at me.

Guess, I wasn't clear the first time.
I'm honestly curious about what you were hoping to gain from staring this thread, and how you would have reacted to advice to either bring it up or to let it be.

Honestly do you think CP is a better source of information than a guy who does fridge repair for a living.

Why is your tact level so low? The tone of your posts is pretty aggressive... no need for it really.

If the thread doesn't belong on CP's OT Forum the Mod's will take care of it.

My contribution: I have a fridge, it has a motor. I've never thought about how often it runs (or should run).

Ok, so because the guy does it for a living, his info if bullet proof, eh? How do I know the guy is giving me good advice? On top of that, from what the Sears rep on the phone told me, the repair guy is 3rd party so is it completley outside the realm of possibility that this guy really couldn't care less about my concern, just wants to get the job done and move onto the next one? Maybe, just maybe, someone had been down this path before and could suggest something that I had not thought of. The repairmen is there to do just that, repair. I seriously doubt he has the ability to tell me how my warranty would respond down the road if the motor burns out.

Just because someone is an "expert" does not make them infallable. I simply ask a question to see if anyone would have any other advice regarding warranty issues down the road and you jump all over me. Rediculous.

If I had a dollar for each time somone was given advice/work done by an "expert" only to find out work was done wrong or bad advice given, I would be a very rich person.

Fine, you want advice on the warrenty, that's cool, but that's not what you asked.

You asked if you should bring it up.
I will now answer your question as just about every person with some common sense would answer it.

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD BRING IT UP.
Ask the repair guy, if you don't like what he says, ask the guy where you bought the thing, and if you don't like what he says, maybe try calling the customer service number in the ownern's manual.

Are those things really that tough to figure out that you need some guy on the internet to tell you to do them?

Ok, really wish I hadn't deleted the original post now. I was asking to bring it up with him for the purposes of future warranty issues, if I wasn't compeltey clear on that I am sorry but that was the jist of what I was writing in the OP. As you can still see, the thread is entitled "odd warranty question" not "odd repair issue". I figured the tital was self explanatory, I guess it wasn't.

You have asked several times what I was hoping to gain, that is what I was hoping to gain, some advice on how I can protect myself from out of pocket expenses as a result of this motor running full time where it should only be running intermittently.

makes sense now?

At the end of the day, it may be no concern what so ever but I would rather get an idea now instead of waiting for a problem to come up down the road.

And again, it was just a question. One you could have easily ignored.
