Default Why does my screen savers turn off Wireless internet? (Vista)

I just got Vista with my new laptop, so far I hate it, and I am sure I will get use to all the new settings however I can't figure out this one at all.

When my screen savers come on, it will automatically disconnect my internet when it is running. So if I have things downloading it will just stop, etc.

Is there a setting somewhere that I seem to be missing that I can make the internet always run even when the screen saver/sleep mode kicks in?

Thanks!

Check the power management settings to ensure that network activity prevents the computer from sleeping. In addition, go through all the currently running software to see if there is some 3rd party application that handles power management itself.

If you are still having problems, try setting it to "Always On" when plugged in.

If it still disconnects when the screen saver goes on, try disabling the screen saver and just using the energy saver/blank screen.

Welcome to Vista

I can't really help with this particular problem, but Lifehacker had a pretty useful write-up on configuring vista to be a little less problematic. I sent it to my father-in-law and he said it helped with a few things.

This isn't a "Vista" problem. This is common among manufacturers to have this in their power saving settings. My ACER has a power management program installed that will disable "unnecessary" hardware like webcam, wifi, or bluetooth when idling for a period. If you can't find the setting to keep wifi enabled in the built in vista management, odds are there's an oem program installed.

I had this problem when i first had my new HP laptop... all I did was call their support and they told me to update my bios. no problems since. Mine's a dv6000 series, and I love it now!
